6 Hot Tips In Making A Great First Impression As An Individual. by Kofacts(m): 1:33pm On Feb 28, 2015
When one talk about the word first impression, what comes to your mind are those things you do to a person on the first day of meeting. Well, if that’s what you have in mind about the description of the
word first impression, you are more in particular correct.

Most a times, first impression can actually be the last impression, believe me or not, this can determine how successful you are in the things you do; some people make good first impression while some are really bad at it no matter how good they look, you just don’t want to come across them again whereas those that are good in it literally get what they want literally at first sight.Guess you must have across these kind of people because they are very easy to be located. It just take a few glance, maybe less than a minute for people to scan and evaluate you when you meet for the very first time hence, it is important to know how you can improve you self so as to create a good first impression.
Below are dome researched tips which I think will help improve your first impression anywhere whether as a Student, Seeking for Job or even on your first date.

ALWAYS BE ON TIME : Many people get this wrong by deceiving themselves with the AFRICAN TIME Slogan. if you wish to create a good first impression, you will have to forget African time.
When you don’t keep to appointment, you are already telling the person that “Hey, Am not a dependable person and if it is job interview, you have already failed.

The whole truth is that, the person you are meeting for the first time is not in anyway related with your excuses for any sake, even if you where to be the person in charge, you won’t have anytime to ask about his coming late .Arriving early is much more in better positions than coming late and is obviously the first self in making a first cool impression.

BE YOURSELF, BE AT EASE : This can be very funny especially when people change their true character, trying to become something else which they are not. I have actually come across a particular fellow where we went for a presentation, When we got to the stage, they fellow changed his intonation, thinking it would please the person in charge but unfortunately for him, it turned out to be the reverse as the person in charge ended up telling him to stop.

if you are feeling uncomfortable and on edge, this can make the other person ill at ease and that’s a sure way to create the wrong impression. If you are calm and confident, the other person will feel more at ease, creating a solid foundation for making that first impression a good one.

PRESENT YOURSELF APPROPRIATELY : Obviously, physical appearance matters, remember you are being addressed the way you dress. This can actually serve as a bonus mark while meeting for the very first time. Assume yourself to be the CEO of a company and someone comes in dressing badly and also seeking for a position in your firm, How about that ? Would you allow him ? Hell No ! i guess.Another key to a good impression is to present yourself appropriately.
Start with the way you dress and know the appropriate dress for any occasion.

INTRODUCE YOURSELF AND ASK FOR NAMES: Make sure you properly introduce yourself when approaching contacts. As a courteous gesture, ask for their name. Writing the name down if you can, repeating it, and using it later in conversation are all personal touches that increase the chances of their remembering your name in the future.

Always remember to stand up when greeting someone and be sure to introduce them to anyone you're with. These are all subtle yet polite gestures that will make anyone feel special and, more importantly, place you in a favorable light.

BE POSITIVE : Your attitude shows through in everything you do.Project a positive attitude, even in the face of critism or in the case of nervousness.

;DUSE BODY LANGUAGE : The aforementioned UCLA study also found that "about 93% of a person's communication effectiveness is determined by nonverbal communication." There are two important things to bear in mind here: posture and eye contact. Maximize your height by lifting your head and keeping your shoulders up to suggest that you are confident, assertive, and determined — all admirable qualities to future contacts.
Moreover, eye contact is the foundation to any good encounter, so don't just glance over because you feel you have to; keep looking straight ahead to show that you are not easily intimidated, are comfortable talking with them, and are interested in what they have to say. Look interested and others' interest will follow. Eye contact allows for a more personal connection, so the more time your pupils stay properly focused, the higher your chances of getting that second callback.
