Recently the president of Nigeria said he will privatize/commercialize all the RBDAs in Nigeria, this means that the rural dwellers will no longer enjoy the dividends od democracy. the major function of the RBDAs is to ensure that the rural areas are developed by providing potable water for them, construction of dams, irregations for agriculture, erosion and flood control etc. if the government succeeds in privatizing it, the rural dwellers have to pay for their development and the govt. will no longer be involved thereby denying the rural areas of the dividends of democracy. Similarly this will also create unemployment as many of their workers will be sacked as in the case of PHCN. With this privatization/commercialization, the NNPC will soon suffer the same fate.
