A lot of Chelsea Supporter and football lovers all over the globe will have been asking who's that young pretty girl who run to the field anytime a chelsea player is down injured.

Eva Carneiro, Chelsea’s first-team doctor was promoted to her role at the start of the 2011-12 campaign after two years working with the reserves.

She was born in Gibraltar to a Spanish father and English mother, studied medicine at Nottingham University, worked in the Scottish Highlands on graduation then spent two years at the Australasian College of Sports Physicians before completing her MSc in Sport and Exercise at London’s Queen Mary University.

After her post-graduate studies Carneiro joined Islington PCT’s Public Health department, continuing her training at the Whittington Hospital and the British Olympic Medical Institute’s Intensive Rehabilitation Unit at Bisham Abbey before earning a place on the UK Sports and Exercise Medicine Specialist training programme. In that role, she worked with Team GB athletes in the build-up to the Beijing and Olympics and with Hope Powell’s England women’s football team.

In the summer of 2011 Andre Villas-Boas appointed her to work with the first team and she has subsequently worked alongside Roberto Di Matteo, Rafael Benítez and Jose Mourinho, treating the players who won the Champions League in 2012, the Europa League the following year and the Capital One Cup this month.

In a rare public statement, Carneiro addressed a Swedish FA
sports medicine conference last year.

"Women want to be leaders, we just put them off as we go along," she said. "In every
programme I've watched in my life, the female doctor is either
hyper-sexualised or she's not present. This needs to change.
Women are discouraged at a young age."

"As a male you can aspire to having a successful professional life and a fulfilling personal life. Women are told that if they want to have both, at best it's going to be difficult and at worse it's going to be a disaster. Ninety percent of the mail I receive is from young women wanting to perform the same role. We need to tell them its possible and that their presence will improve results."
