APC ONE MILLION-MAN MATCH; LIKE A WALK TO A NEW NIGERIA

9JA NOTEBOOK: APC ONE MILLION-MAN MATCH http://9janotebook..com/2015/03/apc-one-million-man-match-like-walk-to.html?spref=tw

Not only was Saturday, 7th March 2015 absorbed in our political history, as the first time Nigerians across ethnographies and regions will come together in solidarity to match in affirmation of their undaunted support for a particular Presidential candidate and his political party, but indeed the historical day eventually marked the beginning of the long walk to a new Nigeria.

It is no gain saying that Nigerians who took part in the All Progressives Congress (APC) organized One Million-Man Match held in the Lagos metropolis, felt fulfilled by the unveiling of the APC roadmap to a new Nigeria and the provided side attractions entertainment among others. No doubt the further unveiling of the strategic APC roadmap to a New Nigeria provided a relief that successfully consumed the discomfort that accompanied the long walk. Beyond the former, they were also pleased with the presence of the ranks and files of the All Progressives Congress (APC) like Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu (Former Governor, Lagos State and National leader, APC), Professor Yemi Osinbajo (APC Vice Presidential candidate), Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola (Governor, State of Osun), Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode (APC Gubernatorial candidate, Lagos State), Sen. Gbenga Ashafa (Incumbent senator and APC Senatorial candidate) and other APC candidates and stalwarts to mention a few, at the long solidarity walk from Ikeja (Lagos State, Central Business District) to the popular Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

Yes, walking under the scorching sun in solidarity for aggrieved set of people or persons is not typical of Nigerians, except when financial kickbacks and other benefits are attached. In whatsoever, the jinx was broken on Saturday, 7th March 2015, history was made by Nigerians who left their comfort zones and took a walk in a 10kilometre average distance. Interestingly, the organizers of the historical “Change walk” made it public that the huge participation of the people was not accompanied by personal gains but self-motivated by their yearnings for a new Nigeria, which ultimately resulted to the display of their undaunted support for the Presidential candidacy of General Muhammadu Buhari and coincidentally embraced as a perfect medium to register their displeasure for the continuity of the President Goodluck Jonathan led administration.

Unarguably, Nigerians are beginning to witness the dynamics of democracy in its bits, particularly with the emergence of uncertainty in the battle for supremacy and power at the centre between the ruling party and the major opposition political party, this has provided a dual major lane for them as against the 16years one lane carrier, considering other lanes are alternative routes. Should the 16year old one lane carrier be rehabilitated, while Nigerians try the newly constructed major alternative route, since there is no harm in trying, or should we as a people take the dilapidated 16year old route, is a question that bothers on Nigerians and the international community.

The One Million Man Match was not just a physical exercise or a fitness walk but a common sense revolution walk as preached by the National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It was a walk to a new Nigeria with a huge number of ordinary Nigerians and people of great consciousness in attendance. Will the success of this solidarity walk transform to victory for the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the forthcoming polls?; is a rhetoric to members of the family who are very optimistic that it will sure do, but has eventually become a nightmare for the People’s Democratic Party who were also reported to have embarked on a 2kilometer walk which took off from the Presidential Villa, Aso rock as led by President Goodluck Jonathan and coordinated by Arch. Namadi Sambo (Vice President), while some has expressed their worries on the positive effects of the APC solidarity long walk on Nigerians who are still undecided, to some of our feelers.

Conclusively, Nigerians are submerged in a deep thought of what their present leaders and those seeking elective positions have for them and their unborn cities, as they patiently await the 2015 general elections that has been rescheduled for March 28 and April 11. No doubt, there are indications that the outcomes of the forthcoming general elections will be contestable in the court of law (Tribunal) and will definitely witness an outburst of crass grievances but we must as a people embrace each other and save the future of our dear nation from a total disintegration and chaos.

I share in the belief of most Nigerians that, whatever the outcome of the general elections may be, our heritage will never remain the same.

Lol what utter nonsense. It was nothing more than a failed attempt at mobilizing and motivating the Lagosians. Out of the what? 18? 20 million? Nothing more than a couple thousand showed up. Now afterward they want to spin it as if that event had any significance. It did not. It was an embarrassment which Buhari even had the "wisdom" to steer clear from.
