Oba Of Ado Ekiti Orders Arrest Of Youths For Protesting Lack Of Eletricity by Harbdulrasaq(m): 3:13pm On Mar 09, 2015 |
A traditional leader has been found to have taken the laws into his own hands after ordering the unjust arrest of youths who were reportedly protesting the nose-diving decline of the power supply to their community. as the youths moved their mass protest towards the oba's palace which he ordered that they stopped and they refused: he decided too aim at them with abusive words which led the youths to throw stones at Oba's house. He then ordered the arrest all the youths in the community indefinitely..... http://www..net/2015/03/breaking-news-oba-of-ado-ekiti-orders.html |

The impunity displayed by Nigerian leaders is so annoying. If an Oba cannot stand for the truth then who should? The youths have every right to protest particularly with the outrageous bills the the various distributing firms are giving to their customers despite the face that they barely have light. |

Well they stoned his house which is a sign of toutishness and holiganism so the oba is perfectly right in calling for their arrest |

GboyegaD:They have the right to arrest but not to throw stones damaging personal properities |

ozoigbondu: Without an action there is no reaction. Whether the reaction was right or otherwise isnt the bone of contention here. The Oba had no right to stop them for protesting the darkness they have been put into and there are ways he could have gone about it instead of insulting them. If you push one to the wall, be sure the person is going to turn to defend his/herself |

GboyegaD:They where coming to the palace to protest and the oba tried to stop them. They acted foolishly by stoning the palace and the oba reacted by imprisoning the touts |

ozoigbondu: We are not sure where they were headed as I don't think they were heading to the palace since the Oba isn't the one responsible for power supply. Thus, him asking them to stop might have several meanings since we aren't sure if he did the right thing or not. Abusing them however is uncalled for. |
