1. Not indicating the job position you need in your Resume:

Many people make this mistake while seeking employments in Nigeria. A lot of people keep using the same unedited Resume they used when they applied for a previous job position. I must admit I made this mistake sometime in 2013 when I applied for an oil/engineering job using an unedited resume with a job titled for a graduate position in a bank.

Whereas this is a very common mistake, some individuals likewise neglect to specify the position they are applying for in their Resume. So watch out for this common mistake when next you are applying for a job.

2. Not being Unique or Creative with your resume

Be creative with your resume, write eloquently and creatively. Your passion for the job you are applying for can be seen from how you write your career objective, goals etc on your resume. This will also make you uniquely different from other applicants. Remember that first impression matters a lot in your job search, and to make a good first impression, your resume is your only chance. So as an advice, Continuously put master touches to your reports (Cover letters and Resume) and also print it on High quality papers that will make it difficult for the employer to squeeze and discard

3. Not knowing anything about the position or the company

Nobody will employ someone who knows nothing about his/her duty. You ability to have a full knowledge of what the job position entails and how you intend to carry out this functions credibly also makes you standout. A good report about how you intend to perform tells the recruiter that you are the right person for the job and you have all it takes. The vast majority of people don’t bother to read about the job descriptions, and this usually lead to them not writing anything about the job description in their application letter/cover up letter?
