Power Supply Drops To 2,676.54MW by blackfase(m): 7:39am On Mar 15, 2015
Power supply has dropped to 2,676.54Mega
Watts (MW), it emerged at the weekend.
It was learnt the reduction was due to
attack on one of the nation’s most critical
gas pipelines, the Escravos Lagos Gas
Pipeline A (ELPSA), last Wednesday and the
blowing up of an explosive device at Egwa
near Batan, in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Delta
State.
The energy generation, according to
Statistics, posted on the Ministry of
Power’s website on March 11 was
2,747.45MW.
Besides, peak generation dipped to
3,770.3MW.
The Transition Company of Nigeria (TCN)
could not evacuate 70.91MW of the total
energy generated in the period under review.
The Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo,
explained that the pipeline attack led to a
loss of 800MW.
This attack, the fourth this year, came only
hours after repairs on an earlier attack on
Sunday March 1 were completed.
A statement by his Special Assistant on
Media, Kande Daniel, said the ministry was
intensifying measures to check the
frequency and effects of gas pipeline
vandalism.
The measures include heightened involvement
of security agencies as well as the
deployment of digital surveillance equipment
to enhance the capability of security
operatives to apprehend vandals.
He assured that the Nigerian Gas Company
and other sector experts had been
instructed to continue effecting prompt
repairs on damaged facilities.
He stressed that the nation could now
conveniently generate and wheel out over
4,500MW but for gas supply disruptions
through vandalism.

There we go again. Cursed children of Lucifer will come on here & rant about APC again. Always blaming someone for their ineptitude.

There is no more excuse not to vote out Jonathan. If he spent the money and energy he used in seeking votes working, he would have done a lot.

Things must Change. Sai Buhari.

The hardship is just too much. We haven't had light for 5days now and the worst part is the hot weather at night which isn't helping issues. Because of security and safety reasons I don't sleep with gen on.

We need change o......

We have seen it all! The biggest opposition that Jonathan faces today is himself. He started advertising his little achievements instead of hiding his head in shame like past corrupt leaders did. He got it all wrong. If he had focused on work and not hype, he could have done a lot better. Shame!

Stop the blame game. If vandalism is an issue, who should protect govt property against vandals.

I thought Jonathan gave contracts in millions to Tompolo and other criminals to protect govt pipelines; then why still blame APC?

Im glad you quoted the insanely ridiculous figure of 4000mw. Dont you feel ashamed at worst or say sorry for Nigeria at best that your country of 170million is/ has always been able to generate such a paltry amount for such a long time, with billions of $ sunk in whats at best been a blackhole?
Glad not still......
Did you say darkness & bad news? We've had more than a bellyfull of the duo from the party & people you so religiously choose to side for far too long brother..... Its like dishing out those two things to the people of this country makes you all high....

it is very possible that APC may be vandalising our pipe lines. Very possible. After all in a case such as this, everyone is a suspect until otherwise proven.

However, do you no think it is a big indictment of GEJ who has the power, the law enforcement agencies, the senate, the rep and the courts and all our weaponry to fight those that are working against the good of the nation but has refused to?

If it is the APC doing it, what has GEJ done to ensure they are stopped and brought to book?

What was the point of appointing ex militants ( the Niger/Delta thieves) to secure our oil?

Be honest for once, answer these questions without bias.

Gas pipeline vandalism all the time, and the contracts are rewarded in billions to fix it, insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result.
