Miss Chinenyenwa Kosisochukwu Ngini, popularly known as Swanky was involved in a ghastly fire accident from a gas explosion at her residence in Awka on Thursday 25th June, 2020.

According to information IgbereTV obtained from Swanky’s Uncle, Chuma Ngini, the accident occured when she tried to boil a little hot water for tea with her gas cylinder. Unknown to her, the gas

cylinder was leaking in the night prior to the morning of the incident. As she bent down to ignite the fire that she will use to boil the little water in the kettle the gas cylinder immediately exploded damaging her body seriously.

Chuma said that Swanky didn’t make any phone call near the gas cooker that caused the explosion as was erroneously posted by a Facebook user.

She was later rescued from the fire incident and rushed to the hospital by family and friends but she couldn’t make it.

Swanky bravely fought for her life at the hospital but she finally gave up the ghost few hours later.

The Health body responsible for disease prevention and control in Nigeria, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has released a new set of rules and guidelines for safely conducting State and Local Government elections in the country during the COVID-19 pandemic that has killed over 600 people in Nigeria already.

According to the NCDC, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), political parties, politicians, need to adhere strictly with the guidelines and lead by example to control the virus spread.

The NCDC urged all parties and stakeholders in forthcoming elections in the country to use protective measures, reduce or limit mass gatherings, promote hand washing hygiene and ensure physical distancing of at least two meters.

Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, the Director-General of the NCDC, disclosed this during the briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja on Monday, July 6.

He said, “Today we are announcing and launching a new guideline for the conducting of elections during the covid-19 Outbreak in Nigeria.

“Some states will be holding state and local government elections this year, being the first time we are holding elections of this significance during the pandemic.

“Therefore, we have developed these guidelines to support everyone involved – political parties, INEC, but most critically, Nigerians that will be going to vote in this difficult times.

“Voting still remains a civic responsibility and even though we are in the middle of a pandemic, we have to find a way of doing this safely and we have to adapt to the new normal.

“As we know, the virus thrives in mass gathering, so there is a challenge that we have in the way we have conducted our elections – pre-elections, during elections and post-elections. So, in doing this guideline, we try and offer advice on how to do this safely.”

“We strongly encourage the use of television, radios, mobile vans, social media and other forms of communication as our politicians solicit for votes.

“We advise careful adherence to mass gatherings guidelines. Unfortunately, the virus doesn’t recognise whether we are conducting elections, religious gatherings or business settings – it just thrives when people come together.

“Heya, from the Philippines here. I can confirm this, they have a huuuuuge wingspan but the bodies are not really that big, more or less like the same body as a medium (bit smaller) sized dog. And yeah they only eat fruits, guavas most particularly. They're really gentle too,” a user explained.

“There are smaller ones hanging around trees and sometimes under roof eaves of some houses back in the provinces, these bigger ones hang around taller trees (but we rarely see them), at least the ones near our old house but last time I saw one in person was almost five years ago,” he added.

Nigeria Citizen Action Group, NCAG, has issued a 7-day ultimatum to President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to reverse the increase of fuel pump price from N143.8 to N123 per liter commencing from Saturday.

The group warned that it would mobilize Nigerian youths in mass to shut down NNPC and PPPRA headquarters simultaneously if President Buhari refuses to reverse the pump.

The ultimatum was given in a joint statement issued by Isah Abubakar, Mohammed Salihu Danlami and Engr Salahudeen A Lukman, President, Northern Youth Council of Nigeria, Speaker, Arewa Youth Assembly and Co-Convener, Intellectual Young Leaders Network, in Kaduna on Saturday and made available to DAILY POST.

“It’s so ugly and very disheartening, following the current economic reality with hardship, pain, hunger and insecurity that President Buhari led Presidency have inflicted on all Nigerians, its completely an act of irresponsibility and insensitivity for the federal government to increase the PMS Pump price at this very critical trying time in the country and globe.

“Nigerians will not tolerate this continued extortive tendencies of APC/President Buhari-led Federal government anymore, the pump prices were increased from N87 to N145 yet Nigerian never complained out of faith, with the current crude oil price in the international market, Nigerians should not buy fuel above N70 per liter but the federal government pegged the PMS price at N123 and Nigeria accepted despite it being unjust.”

The statement explained that the fact remains that the incumbent government under President Buhari has lost touch with reality and connection with basic human pain and suffering in the country.

United States authorities, Friday, said an unnamed English Premier League club was almost a victim of the Nigerian fraudster Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi.

The US Department of Justice said the scammer will face criminal charges after evidences revealed that he conspired to launder millions of dollars, including scams targeting a U.S law firm, an unnamed English Premier League Football club and a foreign bank.

The statement released by the Department of Justice reads: “Abbas and others further conspired to launder hundreds of millions of dollars from other fraudulent schemes and computer intrusions, including one scheme to steal £100 million (approximately $124 million) from an English Premier League soccer club, the complaint alleges.”

Hushpuppi and his gang of 11, that included one Olalekan Jacob Ponle, also known as Woodberry, were rounded up and arrested by the Dubai police earlier in June.

The notorious gang was responsible for Dh1.6 billion (about N169 billion) fraud involving over 1.9 million victims.

Items worth N15.845 billion (Dh 150 million) were also seized.

More than 13 luxury cars worth N2. 640 billion (Dh 25 million), 21 laptops, 47 smartphones, 15 memory storage devices, five external hard drives and 800, 000 emails of potential victims were also recovered from the gang.

In an operation with the code name; Fox Hunt 2, the gang was arrested after four months of covert investigations, during which their social media activities were monitored.

The Dubai Police said Hushpuppi and Woodberry were extradited to the United States this week to face charges of money laundering. A maximum of 20 years in a federal prison is guaranteed if they are convicted.

I Can't Hand Over Governance To My Deputy, He’s A Betrayer, Says Ondo Governor, Akeredolu

Despite being in self-isolation after contracting Coronavirus, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has said that he won't hand over the governance of the state to his deputy, Mr Agboola Ajayi.

Governor Akeredolu had tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, causing anxiety among cabinet members.

The governor, who spoke on Friday through the Commissioner for Information in the state, Donald Ojogo, said he would soon be back to his desk and go ahead with the job of governing the state.

He described calls for him to hand over leadership to Ajayi pending the time he would recover from the virus as a "non-issue".

The governor said his deputy was a threat to governance in the state after defecting from All Progressive Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party.

Akeredolu added that the idea of handing over power to his deputy should be buried, noting that Ajayi had exhibited traits of a betrayer.

Ojogo said, "Handing over the governance of the state to Agboola is a non-issue and we are not even considering that.

"I know as a matter of fact nobody would want to do that and if we advise the governor it should be on what basis?

"He (deputy governor) has created an unusual scenario upon which he wanted to climb into the next step in his political ambition and we have seen this as a misadventure.

"We cannot toil with what we have built over the years. We cannot risk and attempt to hand over to someone who has exhibited the widest scenario of betrayal.

"So, it is unthinkable and unquestionable. If that is the reason why the deputy governor is sponsoring some write up that the governor must hand over to him, he is joking and it is not going to happen.

"Mr Governor is saying COVID-19 is not a death sentence and he is strong enough to work."

He however, denied that all government activities in the state had been grounded as a result of the governor’s COVID-19 status.
