Soldiers have shot car of the Spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum, Professor Ango Abdullahi, on his way to a meeting in Tirwun Village in Bauchi Local Government Area of Bauchi State along Bauchi-Maiduguri road.

In a Telephone interview with Daily Trust Correspondent Professor Abdullahi who is the Chairman Governing Council of Bauchi State University Gadau said "I woke up in the morning around eight o'clock. We were to have a meeting in the State University Gadau. After we passed Awalah round on our way to Gadau we reached Tirwun Village. We saw a convoy of some soldiers. They were driving slowly. Our driver maneuvered and overtook them. We just heard sounds of gunshots, seven ,eight bullets hits our car and demobilised our vehicles. We managed to stop, but we thank Allah the bullets didn't hit anyone of us inside the vehicle"

Professor Abdullahi said " after we stop the soldiers came out shouting that we shouldn't over taken them , because they are escorting sensitive materials. I have never seen a reckless action like this in my life," he said.

He said he informed the State Commissioner of Higher Education Alhaji Ibrahim Aminu Mohammed who reached out to other Security agencies and the army.

Professor Abdullahi said The Army sent a captain who visited him and apologized. He promised that the Brigade commander will make a report to army Headquarters in order to know the unit where the soldiers came from because they didn't inform them that they will pass through Bauchi.

An aide to Abdullahi said the bullets damaged the engine of the vehicle and destroyed the radiator.

In his reaction the State Commissioner of Higher of Education, Ibrahim Aminu Mohammed said they were happy with the quick response security agencies in the state as the state Director DSS , Brigade Commander and the State Commissioner of Police visited the scene immediately after they were informed,

The commissioner said the Brigade Commander has ordered for the arrest of the soldiers, and he had informed the Defense Headquarters immediately.

they should have listened...this is the season where soldiers fire at will...

no that am saying what they did was right but as he stated sensitive materials and you want to overtake..they will definitely want to fire you..cause everybody in Nigeria except me and my family are suspects to all that is happening in this country

They should have listened to what? The same dolts that have not finished with Boko Haram will still oppress fellow citizens... Rubbish. Don't justify illegal excesses.
