Remii: I Ghana cedi is like 54 Naira thanks to devaluation they removed almost 3 zeros to achieve that, only central bank can do that and soludo wanted to do that but the FG as of then refused |

Re: Exchange Rate Of Naira To Other African Currencies by Curvinus(m): 6:16am On Mar 21, 2015 |
wristwatch: Ghana knocked off some zeros from their currency via what is vaguely described as mathematical abracadabra. The real Cedi is nowhere near the naira in terms of value. You can look up the minimum wage of Ghana to have an idea. |
Re: Exchange Rate Of Naira To Other African Currencies by Curvinus(m): 6:23am On Mar 21, 2015 |
OXYGEN011: what is wrong with you dumbos? Do you not see that Ghana knocked off 4 zeros to give their currency an artificial value. All you need to do is add 4 zeros to get the real value of the cedi. |
Re: Exchange Rate Of Naira To Other African Currencies by Curvinus(m): 7:30am On Mar 21, 2015 |
OXYGEN011: The minimum wage in Ghana is 6 Cedis a day and 186 cedis a month if the average Ghanaian were to work the full 31 days in a month. Now, seeing that the Cedi exchanges at 54.51 to the Naira, by the time you multiply 186 by 54.51, you still have 10,138.86 Naira as the minimum wage in Ghana, excluding taxes and other deduction, while here in Nigeria, our minimum wage is N18,000 for a civil servant who works for just 22 days in a month. So, while it will take an average Ghanaian some 53.7 months or four years and five months to earn 10,000 cedis which is the equivalent of 545,100 Naira, a Nigerian with a minimum wage of N.18,000 a month can actually earn this amount in 30 months and two weeks or two years, six months and approximately three weeks. So chilax bro as we are far ahead of Ghana in this race to become a billonaire. 2 Likes |

iamord: Ain't it a bit too early to be mucking about and talking trash about something you could easily look up on the net? A decent brain cell will tell you that if you add four zeros to the cedi, you'll have ten thourand cedis exchanging for for N54.51 which is the real value before the cedi was mathematically adjusted by the Ghanaian government. Please get your facts right and stop embarrassing yourself with lame comments. I'm sure you'll come here and spout the same garbage by the time Zimbabwe knocks off further zeroes from their currency. Curvinus: You posted the most brilliant response. The value of a currency is not in the exchange rate, but the purchasing power. A loaf of bread (agege) is #70, how much is a loaf in ghana? Please people, I'm not being bias in my opinion neither am I looking down on someone else's country or economy. A loaf in SA (spar, shoprite and the likes) R5. So 5*15 should be #75... So its cheaper in Nigeria compared to South Africa. Thanks Please who knows how much it goes for in Ghana? |

Re: Exchange Rate Of Naira To Other African Currencies by TBrownAuto(m): 3:43pm On Mar 21, 2015 |
donshaddow: Do you mean Niara has value then that exchange rate is a mere thing? mind you that SA N75 bread with the quality and standard will be produce in Nigeria for N150 or N200 Naira. so your explanation is wrong understand that in SA they sell quality not quantity in the whole of SA you cant buy a jean for N2500 but here in Nigeria the average cost for jean is N2000 so if a jean is bought in SA for let say N5000 that same jean in Nigeria will be 18000 to 20000 niara for the fact that we buy substandard goods in Nigeria at cheaper cost do not mean our currency has value |

donshaddow: this is the level of poverty saying Agege is better than Shoprite bread just list the ingredent in Agege bread and list that of shoprite bread then you see you are far from it, its like saying you buy true legion jean in Nigeria 5000 and you go go their agent shop and see the pattern for 20000 and say both are same wash the jean then you know they are not |
