In 2011, Reuben Abatti, Special Adviser to President Jonathan on Media and Publicity, falsely accused Buhari of saying he would make the country ungovernable for Jonathan if he lost election. That statement was actually made by Lawal Keita (http://dailyindependentnig.com/2012/06/making-nigeria-ungovernable-for-president-jonathan/), a close associate of Atiku Abubakar, and he (Lawal Keita) is currently a member of the PDP. Mr Abatti also accused Buhari of inciting violence that spurred the 2011 presidential elections. He later apologized publicly to Gen Buhari on page 51 of the April 22, 2011 of The Guardian Newspaper for the false accusations (http://dailypost.ng/2013/01/13/presidency-begs-buhari-to-settle-slander-case-out-of-court/), stating that they were made in error. The damage had however been done as many people do not get to see the apologies and amends after someone's image and reputation is smeared.

Femi Fani Kayode, Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP Presidential Campaign team has followed the same direction in this 2015 presidential election, but this time, he is towing cautiously to avoid a backfire. Instead of smearing Buhari's name by outrightly accusing him of having links with insurgent groups like ISIS, knowing how dangerous that could be if it backfires, he has decided to Ask Buhari questions which would suggest the meaning he is trying to convey to the public.

Here is one of the questions he asked Buhari while addressing journalists, published on the news media:

"Is it true that Buhari gets massive covert funding from Hamas, ISIS, ISIL, Al Qaeda and various shady Middle Eastern interests? Is it true that he was once nominated by Boko Haram to be their spokesman in proposed talks with the Federal Government?"

By asking these questions and asking Buhari to deny them publicly, Fani Kayode intends to convey a meaning to the unsuspecting public and create a fear in them ahead of the 2015 presidential elections, and he would not be summoned in a law court tomorrow and charged with libel, because according to the report, he "merely asked questions". He asked this question and joined it with another question relating to the Boko Haram sect nominating Buhari as a spokesperson for the group which Buhari dismissed and rejected, stating clearly he would have nothing to do with insurgents. But by joining these two questions together, he wants to convey a false message to the unsuspecting public and try to make a hit on the strong followership Buhari is enjoying at this time.

In my opinion, this is the height of divisive and hate politics. It is very dangerous for this country. The PDP should for once start telling the public what hope lies with them in the event that President Jonathan is re-elected as president. Nigerians are no fools, if you must tell Nigerians not to vote for a candidate, tell them what hope lies with your candidacy.

No wonder the popularity of the President is growing thinner by the day. These callous media stunts being made by his media aides are putting him at a weaker light by the day. You cannot keep fighting someone who is campaigning and selling himself to the public, and you claim to be stronger than him. I have to say this again, sometimes i feel the people surrounding President Jonathan are the biggest enemies he has, every little gain he tries to make by ralling round the country for support, they destroy with their negative campaigns.

Nevertheless, This has been an interesting time because for the first time in a long time in Nigeria, both parties are fighting so hard for every possible potential support. Nigerians are able to enjoy some cut in electricity (even if that lasts till the end of the election), the families of those that died during the immigration job scam are able to get some compensation, and even the confab recommendations may see the light of the day. All these, while coming too late, at least have given a sense and feeling of power back to the people.

Use Your Vote wisely.

God Bless Nigeria

I'm more concerned with Nigerians' dispositions after the elections.
Too much is being said about just one event while a million other more meaningful events are happening all around the globe.
They can smear themselves all they want. I don't share surnames or reputation with either of them.

They've started crying again. FFK merely asked a question or rather questions. Nothing was attached to it and there's no other meaning to it.
Slander is accusing the GEJ led govt of 20billion theft when there's no proof.
Slander is when you accuse the finance minister of looting 30 trillion when our yearly budget is a mere 4.962 trillion.
Abeg, make una go siddon jor!
Cry babies!

FFK asked very valid question. However, APC want to look at it, is their own business. I'll wish Buhari answers the simple and straight forward questions.

The questions are based on buhari's antecedents, His history, his true self, his belief and ideals. If he want's to be the president, Then those questions should not be too much to answer. FFK should be commended for bringing things like this to the public knowledge.

If it's a lie, GMB should come out and tell us the truth. Besides, some of these things are things we already knew.

For what GEJ have done, they have been well published. Only that the APC just want to dismiss them. Everything have not been done, But a lot have been done. We have asked GMB, to tell us his legacies when he was head of state, we cant find any positive.

A patriotic Nigerian have done justice to the GEJ and Buhari question here;

http://dailypost.ng/2015/02/04/femi-aribisala-president-jonathan-superior-presidential-material-buhari/

Buhari should answer the questions as they are very valid. we can't turn history on its head because of Buhari.

If these questions are valid, then i am sorry for a country where anyone is free to be an insurgent if he wishes, and he is only asked about such membership when election is approaching. A country where a person is free to loot a state treasury for as long as he wants, then a siting president in control of the anti-corruption agencies will only play a video to the public alleging fraud against his opponent. You may not realize it till after the election when you'll start shifting blames, but these campaign of smearing has only strenghtened the resolve of undecided voters against this present government

You have no point.

after all. You don't see anything wrong for someone who truncated democracy to come back to seek office through the institution he destroyed.

aren't you sad that the criminals were being shamed? If you were sincere, you'd know that you don't need the government to begin the process of prosecuting those who are being shamed. it will be more patriotic for you to take it up from there. or you think individuals can't take a sitting government to court? If the government don't prosecute your loved criminals, take it up as a civic responsibility. That's if you truly hate looting.

You can't claim to hate looting, yet you hate the looters being shamed. If that is the case, then you can't convince me that you'd love them to be prosecuted.

If you see noting wrong for someone who killed to become head of state and achieved nothing, wanting to return to power and You feel pained that those you agreed have looted the state are being shamed; Then you are a hypocrite and have no justification whatsoever, to criticize a president who is working extra hard to restructure this country, build institutions, resurrect the dead infrastructure etc; in spite of your baseless accusations and self induced despondency, that you want to diabolically transfer to others with the aim of grabbing power.

Learn from History, That Old despot said exactly the same thing, did it 30 years ago and had no legacy to his name. If not, he'd be telling us what he achieved then.

Go and sleep please.

What I replied you was the raw truth. I beg you leave this APC train alone. They are manipulating you. See what a patriotic Nigerian wrote.

[b]Between 1983 and 1985, Peter Onu of Nigeria was Acting Secretary-General of the OAU. At the 1985 Summit in Addis Ababa, statesmen like Julius Nyerere, President of Tanzania, lobbied for his election as substantive Secretary-General. However, there was a major stumbling block to Peter Onu’s candidature: his Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari, was campaigning against him.

Buhari claimed: “This generation of Nigerians and indeed future generations have no other country than Nigeria.” But when the crunch came, his allegiance to Nigeria disappeared. In the election of the OAU Secretary-General in 1985, Buhari voted against Nigeria and for Niger instead. He secured the election of Ide Oumarou, a Fulani man from Niger; as opposed to an Igbo man from Nigeria. By so doing, Buhari became the first and only Head of State in the history of modern international relations to vote against his country in favour of his tribe.

Years later, General Buhari marched all the way from Daura to Ibadan to demand of Oyo State Governor, Lam Adeshina: “Why are your people killing my people?” Again, he was not referring to Nigerians as his people. Instead, he was an advocate for the rights of murderous Fulani herdsmen who killed Yoruba farmers that objected to their cattle grazing on their land and damaging their crops. This same Buhari who voted against Nigeria in 1985, and said in 2003: “Muslims should only vote those who will promote Islam,” is now shopping for votes nationwide. He should be rejected outright.

Ignorance running riot

If APC had wanted to be taken seriously, it would have come up with a better presidential material than Buhari. There is something anomalous about a party whose mantra is change, recycling a 73 year old man as its candidate for the president of modern Nigeria. Buhari has little or no understanding of public policy. That is why APC will always come up with some excuse or the other not to have him participate in a debate with Jonathan. Buhari fought corruption by imposing ridiculous 300-year sentences on offenders. He fought exam malpractices by imposing 24-year prison sentences on school children.

He dealt with indiscipline by flogging people to queue at bus-stops. He dealt with food shortages by sending soldiers to break into private warehouses and shops. He fought trade imbalances by taking Nigeria back to the stone age of trade by barter (counter-trade). He sought to extradite a Nigerian from Britain by drugging and crating him.

There is so much about Buhari ending the Boko Haram insurgency as he did the Maitatsine insurgency in the 1980s. But the General needs to be advised that Boko Haram is not Maitatsine. Maitatsine was in two towns: Boko Haram is in three states with spillover effects into others. Maitatsine fought with bows and arrows: Boko Haram fights with sophisticated weapons. Maitatsine was a local insurgency, Boko Haram is an international phenomenon.

Anti-corruption hypocrisy: Buhari does not know what corruption means and how to fight it. He became Nigeria’s Head of State through the corruption of a coup d’état and he then tried to fight corruption with corruption. Imposing retroactive decrees and killing Nigerians under them is corruption. Putting an Igbo vice-president in Kirikiri, while placing the Fulani president under palatial house arrest, is corruption.

Detaining people like Michael Ajasin in jail, even after they were discharged and acquitted by kangaroo courts, is corruption. Jailing journalists for telling the truth is corruption. Putting pressure on a judge in order to jail Fela Anikulapo-Kuti is corruption. Shepherding 53 suitcases of contraband unchecked through Customs during a currency change exercise is corruption. Swearing an affidavit that your school-leaving certificate is with the military when it is not, is corruption.

Transforming Nigeria: Buhari’s shameful past is dwarfed by the achievements of Goodluck Jonathan. Under Jonathan, Nigeria has emerged as by far the largest economy in Africa with a GDP of $503 billion; nearly double the previous estimates. South Africa now comes a distant second with $350 billion. With the unbundling of PHCN after 52 years of gridlock, and with now the realizable target of 20,000 megawatts of electricity by 2020, Nigeria’s GDP will soon double that of South Africa.

CNN Money projects that the fastest growing economy in the world in 2015 will be China (7.3% growth rate); followed by Qatar (7.1%); and then followed by Nigeria (7%). This belies all the misinformation about the Nigerian economy dished out by the APC and attests to the astute management of the economy by the Jonathan administration. The seemingly ambitious Vision 20 2020, proclaimed under the Abacha regime to make Nigeria one of the 20 largest economies in the world by 2020 is now well in sight. Today, Nigeria is already the 23rd largest economy in the world. Kudos to Jonathan, we have overtaken such European countries as Austria and Belgium.

Life expectancy

In 2010, when Jonathan became acting president, life expectancy in Nigeria was 47 years. Today, it is 54 years; an improvement of seven years. Adroit application of SURE-P funds has reduced the maternal mortality ratio in Nigeria by 26%. Under Jonathan, Nigeria has become Guinea Worm-free; a disease previously affecting 800,000 Nigerians yearly. In the last six months, there has been no new case of polio in Nigeria. If this goes on for another two and a half years, Nigeria will be declared polio-free.

Bill Gates, the richest man in the world, hailed Nigeria’s fight against polio as one of the great world achievements of 2014. He said: “The infrastructure Nigeria has built to fight polio actually made it easier for them to swiftly contain Ebola. The fact that Nigeria is now Ebola-free is a great example of how doing the work to fight things like fighting polio also leaves countries better prepared to deal with outbreaks of other diseases.”

Investors’ haven: In the last three years, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has ranked Nigeria as the number one country for foreign investments in Africa. We also receive more home-remittances than any other African country; a vote of confidence in our economy by Nigerians living abroad. They remitted $23 billion in 2013, a figure far more than the $18 billion received by Egypt; the country with the second highest home remittance in Africa. It is a testament to Goodluck Jonathan’s adroit management of the Nigerian economy that the richest African is now a Nigerian.

In 2010, when Jonathan came to power, Aliko Dangote was the 463rd richest man in the world, with a total fortune of $2.1 billion. Today, he is the 23rd richest man in the world, with a total fortune of $25 billion. Dangote’s billions are “made in Nigeria.” Indeed, under Jonathan, Nigeria now has the fourth highest rate of returns on investments in the world, according to UNCTAD.

Crisis of unemployment

The big challenge has to do with jobs. Every year, another 1.8 million people are offloaded into the job market. However, while the APC says Buhari will create 720,000 jobs a year if elected, Jonathan created 1.6 million jobs in 2013. He has established such innovative programmes as Nagropreneurs and YOUWIN that support young farmers and entrepreneurs with grants, training and mentorship. He has also instituted internship schemes to enhance the capacity of university graduates to secure gainful employment.

The unemployment problem is compounded by the more than doubling of the education budget under Jonathan. Every Nigerian child now has the opportunity to go to school. Indeed, there has been a 10 million increase in school enrolment in Nigeria under this government. There has also been a 75% increase in O’ Level credit pass in Maths and English. Jonathan established 125 Almajiri schools in 13 northern states. He also established 14 new federal universities. There is now a federal university in every state. Indeed, the kidnapping of the Chibok schoolgirls derives from the disenchantment of the Boko Haram that many Northern girls are now going to school.

Dealing with corruption: According to Transparency International, Nigeria has not become more corrupt under Goodluck Jonathan. Out of 178 countries ranked in 2010, Nigeria was the 134th most corrupt country. In 2014, Nigeria was ranked 136th. Unlike Buhari, Jonathan understands that corruption has to be attacked institutionally, from the roots. Therefore, he proposed the abrogation of the petroleum subsidy; one of the biggest avenues for corruption in government. However, Nigerians refused. Jonathan has sanitized the corruption in fertilizer distribution. The Minister of Agriculture, Akinwumi Adesina, lamented that between 1980 and 2010, Nigeria lost 776 billion naira to corrupt fertilizer racketeering.

Fertiliser racketeering

That effectively came to an end under Jonathan. Through the innovative e-wallet system, farmers are given cell-phones through which they now have direct and easy access to government-provided fertilizer, chemicals and seedlings. Jonathan has also sanitised the banking system by removing dinosaur managing directors, recovering indigent loans and using AMCON to mop up bad loans. By instituting e-payment systems, he sanitized the civil service by removing 50,000 ghost-workers in one fell swoop. He has equally got rid of ghost voters from the electoral register; over 1 million ghost voters were removed from the Zamfara INEC register alone. Under Jonathan, we have had free and fair elections one after the other; in Edo, Anambra, Ondo, Ekiti and Osun.

Agriculture has been transformed under this administration. Thanks to Jonathan, agriculture now accounts for 22% of Nigeria’s GDP, more than oil and gas which only account for 15.9%. Under Jonathan, Nigeria has recorded a more than 50% reduction in food imports. Prior to his presidency, we had a food import bill of 1.4 trillion naira. But now, it is less than N700 billion. With the innovation of dry season rice-farming, Nigeria has reached 60% self-sufficiency in rice production. According to the Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), Nigeria is now the largest producer of cassava in the world. The Jonathan government built six strategically-located perishable cargo airports in Ilorin, Jalingo, Jos, Lagos, Makurdi andYola; in close proximity to Nigeria’s food baskets.

It is remarkable that Northern farmers were able to donate five million tubers of yam in order to raise 5 billion naira for Buhari’s presidential election campaign. If Jonathan’s transformation agenda in agriculture was not working as planned, they would not have been able to do this.

Please Vote wisely. Vote Jonathan.

When you get so hoodwinked into a particular ideology, you lose your sense of simplicity. Its like football, you see supporters of other clubs as enemies and you'll fail to realize its a game of interest.

At this time, the interest of most Nigerians falls with Buhari. Why? Jonathan refused to do his job as president. He depended on the cabals who deceived him that he was the best president ever! and he disconnected with the actual people he was leading. Nothing was important to him except tenure elongation and party affiliation. He was there to do the mandate of Nigerians, very important, but what was he doing? His own mandate. The walls have ears my friend, everyone knows he gets drunk half the day and achieves nothing the rest of the day, that his wife owns a largesse of estates worth trillions of naira, and daily unthinkable amounts of money are taken outrightly from state coffers on a daily basis to run his private interests and that of his wife. All these money run into hundreds of billions my friend.

But you know what? Nigerians do not care, if you build the refineries you promised after removing petrol subsidy that send shockwaves through the country. He practically deceived Nigerians, he betrayed their trust.

Nigerians dont care, if you're investing huge amounts of money into the economy to generate jobs and electricity. I cannot imagine that Nigerians pay as much as americans pay for electricity (You'll know this if you have been to the US), yet they dont see the light.

You mentioned Youwin, how many lives does that affect annually in Nigeria? 1,500. and how much is the budget? 12 billion naira only. But this government wastes 2 trillion naira on subsidy theives annually.

All Nigerians wanted was for the government to fight the criminals at the seaports and NNPC. The former CBN governor said this himself "People bring in only 2 vessels, and they bring claims for 20 vessels, and they get paid, no actual inspection, nothing! "And these same people, even after getting paid, they still divert these products to neighbouring countries where they can sell at a higher profit"

This is the height of impunity because it is because of these wastages that graduates are roaming the streets unemployed. Paying lip service to corruption is the height of irresponsibility of government to Nigerians. President Jonathan can be forgiven for other crimes, but not crimes against Nigerians who have done nothing to him. People have died scrambling over sold out jobs, they are tired of seeing people pay millions just to get jobs with government. This government is simply for the privileged ones, 10% of Nigerians.

This is where the love for Buhari comes. That man has shortcomings, which everyone does, But Buhari will not let Nigerians pay the price of corruption, he will never watch and see as a few individuals feast over trillions of naira that can be invested for the betterment of millions of people. Everywhere he has governed, the people love him, thats why he is more loved in Borno and Yobe where he served as military administrator, than in his hometown. Unlike Goodluck Jonathan, if he has 1 billion in office, he will invest 900 million for the people before thinking about the rest. This is the time when Nigerians need him so much

The problem with your idea is that because you benefit from the current government, any little negativity about Buhari will be seen as a catastrophe by you, because it will affect your well being. You absolutely have all to lose if he becomes president.

I do not ask you to see things my way, or like millions of Nigerians see it, that might never happen, but i urge you sir, please respect the wishes of Millions of Nigerians, do not insult us for the path we have chosen. We have done so because of our interest and nothing else. There is nothing for millions of Nigerians in the next 4 years in President Jonathan's government. We cannot sacrifice our interest for the benefit of few people like you.

Jonathan's campaign has focused on Buhari rather than focus of convincing Nigerians how he will benefit the majority of the country's population if elected president. That shows the level of desperation in this government to remain in power. Buhari has focused all his attention on telling people what he has in store for them, and being a man of his words unlike Jonathan, he will strive to do these things to the best of his ability.

Sir, i have nothing against Jonathan, i stated in one of my earlier posts that if he shoots up the budget for youth development and employment generation to 1 trillion (Just half of what he pays subsidy cabals), i will vote for him. This means that he will be able to empower between 100,000 and 300,000 businesses annually through Youwin or whatever programme. But if that is not happening, i will remain with Buhari, it is all about interest now, not sympathy or ethnic sentiments.

In conclusion sir, a patriotic Igbo Nigerian said recently. After the civil war had ended, military was still around, his brother had brought out his car in the public domain in Imo state and had driven it out, but he was ruthlessly malhandled by the military and his car was seized. Suddenly, a senior military officer was passing and noticed the atmosphere with the man crying, and when he enquired and learnt the truth, he quickly summoned the officers and ordered them to return the seized car, then detained them for the brutality. He told them people that the war had ended and there was absolutely no need for the bullying. This man regained his car and his sense of pride and confidence.... That senior military officer was later identified as MUhammadu Buhari. He loves the people he governs, he fights for them, he fights for justice against them, sometimes he goes extreme lengths to do this. His excesses will be checked by democracy.

We want a new government at this moment, we detest and decry the government of Jonathan. To whom much is given, much is expected. He was elected on the platform of hope, but he disappointed Nigerians.

God Bless Nigeria
