worry359: My brother all blessings upon you. I really don't understand Nigerians. The most simple question and the guy still goes to lie. They think the rest of the world works like lawless Nigeria where anything goes. Lying or giving incorrect information to an official is a crime. Period 8 Likes 1 Share |

This is a very sketchy story. Not to say that British immigration cannot be silly but this story is too vague. Why lie? Just answer honestly, at least if you are deported for telling the truth then you can say that you were mistreated. When you lie you give them a reason to be suspicious. 3 Likes |

favoured234: Good advice. The UK is becoming more strict about who they let in...especially with the rise of right wing parties like UKIP...who in the unlikely event they win could make things much tighter for everyone....hence the Conservatives showing the people they mean business on immigration. 1 Like |

A simple truth would have saved him all that...he's lucky his phone was collected from him to help him confirm. He could have been put on the next available plane simply because of that...how did he get a visa if you knew no one going by the purpose of his visit? He should consider himself lucky...he thinks UK is his father's backyard? |

I love when people do something wrong - get treated accordingly, and then cry "injustice." 5 Likes |

Nigeria is a pit, a stinking, graveyard filled with distorted people who praise mediocrity and ridicule integrity and humility. Choke on this GEJ!!!! 5 Likes 1 Share |

There's more to this story. You can claim you know no one in "London" even if you have a UK number on your phone. UK is not London alone. And in UK, people relocate at the shortest possible time. |
Re: He Was Deported On Arriving UK. by skylarr: 11:18am On Mar 24, 2015 |
Why did he lie in the first place? Honesty is the best policy . Except , of course he has ulterior motives of being in that country. This is the rot we find ourselves in in this country. Vices have become virtues and to think some people feel that the guy was wrongly treated is shocking. I feel no ounce of pity for him cos he got what he deserved. That'll teach him to always tell the truth. 5 Likes |

babeface3:There is certainly more to this story than the you or your friend is telling us. If what you have narrated is the complete story, then I would say the UKBA guys were wrong. Was he given a chance to explain why he claimed he knew no one?... He had a hotel booked, he was in the country for business meeting (probably in a town out of London), he had no intentions of seeing his in-law and didn't even think it fit to inform her. He probably didnt even know if she was resident in London or in another town. If I were the man and was casually asked by the immigration guys, I would likely have just given a similar casual answer since my sister in-law's existence was inconsequential to my visit. It becomes a problem only if the immigration guys laid serious emphasis on the question but the man still insisted he knew no one. Just like I said, there is more to this story than your friend narrated. The immigration guys wouldn't just deport people for such a flimsy reason. 2 Likes |

During the visa application, they normally ask if you know any body in the UK, if you reply yes, you will be required to fill some information about the person in the UK which you might not have. And beside you have no intention of even seeing that person or contacting the person when you travel. So for convenient sake, some people fill they dont know any body in the UK. So i believe the guy filled that in his visa application and and i trying to stand by that which unfortunately backfired. It can happen to anyone. If you give the information about someone you know without having any knowledge of the person's status in the UK or if the person has any criminal record that can affect you. Its really dicey you know. 2 Likes |

pansophist: My friend hold it there! Must you label everybody as a liar? If lieing is your hobby, that doesn't mean everybody lies like you, so never ever in your life again make that statement "Everyone lies"! I have been in several situations where i risked losing my job if i said things exactly the way i messed up, and all i had to do was just say a little lie to get out of the trouble, but on those occasions, i said the truth and i still did not even lose the job cos my boss now knows it's better having an imperfect but sincere staff who is willing to improve rather than a liar. There are many people like me who take Christianity serious, and we will rather be messed up while speaking the truth than lie just to have material gains. Funny enough, it is people who stand for integrity against all odds that end up gaining on the long run. You think you are smart by lieing, but in reality you are just a coward who can't stand up to the truth! 3 Likes |
