It's even a shame that Jonathanians and some Buharists who commented on that thread failed to comment based on the body of the news. Had any Buhari supporters pointed out early that there was nowhere in the news that supports the headline, perhaps the propaganda would have been deflated.

Shame on Vanguard!

Lalasticlala, seun, ishilove, obinoscopy, you guys need to promote this thread to the fp because it is obvious even from the Vanguard article that Buhari never said he would make Naira = Dollar.

Why are the buharist the ones who practice buharism always defend the flaws of their leader. When an un-educated man make statements you know. The chanji chanji movement is gradually becoming a laughing stock. If he knew a clue about how the value of the naira would help nigeria export he would neva even go there. How does he intend to create jobs without an export driven economy. The service based economy is not working for us because we are not a developed economy. Please the man would always remain a dunce and I pray the court do the needful today.

The actions and inactions of journalists in Nigeria are what will tip Nigeria of the cliff and cause this country to fall to pieces if care is not taken right and if sanity is not restored to the profession.

Speaking with respect to the poor state of the economy, what the General said was:

How does decrying the continuos fall in the value of the Naira as a result of some calculated policy mistakes by admistrators and policy makers in the country translate to equating the Naira to the Dollar?

Although this not an impossible feat - the Naira can be rebased, restructured and made equal to the Dollar, just as Ghana did, the truth is Gen. Buhari never said those words. His actual statement was just quoted out of context to achieve some sinister objective.

Below is the full text of the news piece. Only the bolded part was Buhari's true words.

Are you saying all the journalists present don't have ears again? Buhari said it with his own mouth. Don't attempt to cover up his cluelessness.

Hah! How many facts do you need?
1. We don't have stable electricity in Nigeria yet we have spent as much money as China on the sector. I guess the money grew wings at some point.

2. Naira has depreciated to N230 per dollar. Thats a result of poor economic planning/policy.

3. External debt is rising. Na me and ur children go pay back that debt later in form of taxes yet most Nigerians didnt recieve the dividends from the acquired loans.

4. Most traders from other parts of the country are afraid to go to the north to buy some of the products they sell e.g Beans, Onions, etc because of insecurity. This has caused the GDP of some states to shrink. Only God knows where they manufacture their gdp growth statistics from.

Bro the list is endless.

Devaluation is good for countries that have large export base. What is Nigeria exporting? Crude oil contributes over 90 percent to our export earnings. Unfortunately, we are loosing buyers and our currency value is falling. Who loses? Nigeria.

Very soon, international investors will start repatriating their investments due to the weak position of the naira against other currencies. These are all basic economic principles.

Have you seen any developing country with a strong currency. Even china and japan wants der curriencies lower than the dollar. The US has even accused china of knowingly devalue the yuan. Strong currince is only acceptable for a serviced based economy not a manufacturing one unless u manufacture advanced goods as in the case of germany.

You can't compare Nigeria to China in terms of the currency strenghts relative to the US dollar. China exports practically everything you can think of and it has a large export base to relie on so China can afford to devalue its currency cos their economy will benefit. Now what is Nigeria exporting that we will benefit from currency devaluation? Is it the crude oil that is now in excess supply the world over?

This is what I have just posted on that thread, seconds ago:

1. It is quite pathetic how intellectually lazy people have become these days, making it so easy for unscrupulous, dishonest, unprofessional and compromised 'journalists' to deceive so many people, for so long, without the gullible lot realizing it.

2. Otherwise, how come that this clear misrepresentation of GMB's remark would reach so many pages of comments on NL yet nobody was enable to figure out that even by the original story on Vanguard, there is NO WHERE the people's general mentions that he would 'make naira equal in value to dollar'!.

3. You do not need any professional journalistic training to know that for this news story to have been given the headline it was given, the body of the story would reasonably be expected to have a direct quote of GMB explaining in his own words this issue of utmost policy significance.

4. Although this would not matter much for those who have decided either way, such a direct quote would allow enlightened, unbiased minds to join the debate and judge him fairly; more importantly, it would portray the NAN reporter and the Vanguard online editor as objective and fair journalists.

5. If there is no direct quote of GMB saying he would 'make naira equal in value to dollar' in the entire original story, then how come this conjecture was made the headline of the news story?

6. And since there is only one direct quote of GMB in there whole story (“It is sad that the value of the naira has dropped to more than N230 to one dollar; this does not speak well for the nation’s economy,’’), why wasn't the headline of the story based on that quoted remark?

7. Well, the answer to the two questions above is clear: the dishonest reporter of NAN (one of the FG's mouthpieces) or the corrupt and compromised Vanguard's online 'editor' knew exactly what he/she wanted to achieve, which is, to serve his/her PDP paymasters by playing along their campaign strategy of damaging the image and reputation of GMB as badly as they can.

8. But it is quite heart-warming to see that in spite of all the billion-dollar campaigns of calumny against Buhari, the popularity of the people's general is only rising all over the country.

9. Even in the SE/SS/MB, the political terrain has completely changed from 2011 in favour of the amiable general, as a result of which he is now SURELY going to get a far BIGGER SHARE of the SE/SS/BM votes on Saturday, while GEJ's share of the NW/NE/SW votes is going to SHRINK drastically from what it was in 2011.

10. Simply compare GMB's highly successful rally in Imo yesterday, and the reception he got naturally from the ordinary people on the street, with the situation in 2011, when his chances in the SE were so slim, his campaign resources so meagre, and the structure of his party (CPC) so scantily present that he could not even manage to campaign at all in the region.

God bless you.

Its you who still don't get it. Countries dat are not self sufficent can not afford to have a strong currency. Even if buhar becomes president the easiest way to start export is agriculture. Now if our currency relatively matches the dollar then buyers would look elsewhere because of lack of profit. In as much we don't need d currency to be far devalued from the dollar we also don't want it to match the dollar.

APC did not deny it. Buhari promised to improve the naira to be at par with the dollar and many blind followers believe he will do it. I wonder why you are doubting him at this critical time grin.

REASONS WHY YOU DON'T NEED TO DIE FOR ANY POLITICIAN BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER ELECTIONS: THINK ABOUT IT!!!

1. In 2011, Governor Shekarau of Kano State contested for the Presidency on the platform of ANPP against President Jonathan of PDP. So did Nuhu Ribadu of ACN. Today, Gov. Shekarau is a Minister in President Jonathan's cabinet & a member of the President's party while Mallam Nuhu Ribadu is the PDP candidate for the governorship seat in Adamawa State. How many were killed because of them in 2011?

2. President Obasanjo and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu were thought to be sworn enemies. When President Obasanjo took over South West Nigeria in 2003, Gov. Tinubu became "last man standing" against him in ACN/Lagos. Today, Obasanjo is Tinubu's "Navigator" & Tinubu now a treasured guest at Obasanjo's birthday. How many died believing they were enemies?

3. Fmr Govs, Engr. Segun Oni and Dr. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti used to be political foes and now they belong to the same party. Both are alive as friends & some folks had died fighting for them.

4. Fmr. Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola never saw eye to eye with Governor Aregbesola. Now, they belong to the same party, some people died for both, are they not friends now?

5. President Obasanjo was prepared to throw VP Atiku Abubakar out of Aso Rock. Who would have thought that Atiku would visit Obasanjo in Otta farm after all the brouhaha. Politicians belong to one big family. They have their interest at stake, do not die for them especially when you have nothing at stake. Now that some supposed 'SWORN ENEMIES' are now eating from the same plate, how many of the MASSES will be there?!

VOTE, that is your obligation. You do not owe anyone a duty to die. GMB and GEJ may be in the same party tomorrow! Value your life, if you are still alive you can be better than them. Say no to violence, say no to blood letting.

Make a choice with your PVC & let NIGERIA be the winner!

Save yourself this overzealousness by providing the recorded tape.

You just can't read someone's article and then pick or choose what to make of it.

Provide a contradictory proof to the topic and stop this obnoxious attempt at repackaging the General.
