The Young Democratic Party, YDP, has called for the immediate cancellation of the 2015 elections, saying its exclusion by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from the ballot papers fell short of the Electoral law. National leader of YDP, Henry Nwabueze in a statement made available in Abuja, said the Prof. Jega led INEC deliberately refused to include YDP in the ballot even when it was clear that YDP had fulfilled the requirements to be so included in the ballots having been proclaimed a political party. “In compliance with the law, YDP submitted the list of its candidates to INEC for this 2015 General elections. Today the Young Democratic Party regret to inform Nigerians that INEC has failed because it unlawfully refused to include YDP in the 2015 General election Ballot paper. By this, INEC is practicing democracy of the few, by the few and for the few. Accordingly, YDP calls on the idependent INEC to cancel the just concluded March 28, 2015 Presidential and National Assembly elections and refrain from announcing the results, including the names of the winners or losers in that election. “Indeed, by virtue of the Electoral Act, Section 78, subsection 4, YDP became a registered political party in Nigeria as of May 2, 2014. Although INEC is fully aware of this fact and inspite of numerous notifications, it nevertheless proceeded, against common sense and reason to exclude YDP in this 2015 General election. ” This action of INEC is deliberate, violative of the Electoral Act, violative of the constitution and quite frankly, offensive to all notions of fair play and justice. In view of the unlawful exclusion of YDP a lawfully registered political party in violation of the electoral act and a subsisting federal high court judgement, the leadership of YDP and its NEC has resolved to proceed to court to seek for cancellation of the March 28 presidential election and conduct of fresh polls to include YDP,” Nwabueze stated. It said by so doing, the INEC had disenfranchised several Nigerians and infringed on their fundamental rights of association as well as the right to function as a political party. “We cannot as law abiding citizens, members and leaders of a duly registered political party fold our arms and allow INEC to deny us our constitutionally guaranteed right to present and field candidates for elective offices in Nigeria,” the YDP national leader stated. source: http://leadership.ng/news/421928/exclusion-ydp-calls-for-cancellation-of-poll-results 1 Like 1 Share |

the north created Boko Haram to make GEJ government un-gorvernable, in order to wrestle power from GEJ,then peradventure, Buhari wins, let Nigerians know that Niger Delta should also rise against Buhari and make him restless until he dies of HBP. The Northerners alone are not born to rule Nigerians. If Buhari wins, Nigerians prepare for another stronger violence in Nigeria. I am not supporting violence in Nigeria, but this is the true nature of things to happen if Buhari wins. Even Buhari's certificateless issue on ground is enough to cause uprising after he's sworn in as Nigeria's next president. No one is above the law.all heads are equal. 1 Like |

Billygee2u: You should be kept away far in the island of stupidity where reasonable people will never dream of visiting.. That YDP will be proscribed, initially they misinterpreted the position of the court on their registration and now they are pushing their luck too far. |
