My Ghanaian friend sent this piece to me and I was amazed at the similarities of the two scenarios

1. Buhari is 72 years; Nana Addo will also be 72 years when Ghana goes to election next year.
2. Jonathan is 58 & John Mahama will be 58 years next year.
3. Jonathan took over after death of his boss under bizarre circumstances, same as John Mahama.
4. Jonathan was going for his 2nd term same as John.
5. The PDP has the umbrella as it’s symbol, the NDC has same.
6. The NDC has red, white, black & green, the PDP has similar colours.
7. Nana Addo is going for President after several attempts, Buhari is doing the same.
8. Jonathan & John won against Buhari & Nana Addo under bizarre circumstances.
9. Both Jonathan & John's government have been cited for massive corruption, mismanagement of economy & bad governance.
10. Jonathan & John are very close friends.
11. They both have well-endowed wives with limited education
12. A wind of change is blowing, Ghana don’t disappoint!

I guess your friend failed to tell you that this was a change of guards from a group of people who had ruled Nigeria since 1999?

NPP, CELEBRATE YOUR WELL DESERVED
VICTORY...WE SHALL JOIN YOU IN 2016
I have heard of massive jubilation by NPP
members in Kumasi over the opposition victory in
Nigeria. The opposition in Nigeria defeated the
incumbent PDP which ironically, has the same
ideological base as the NPP. We are not
oblivious of the support the PDP gave to NPP in
Ghana towards snatching the presidency from
the NDC in 2000. That was why Obasanjo was
quick to support Ghana with Peugeot cars for the
police to boast the standing of NPP government
in the eyes of Ghanaians. Obasanjo supported
Ghana at the time when his own police force
was ill equipped. We are aware of PDP's
association with the NPP and the NDC's affinity
to the ACP. The shoes were on different foot
this time around, with the NDC's friends coming
from opposition and winning the elections in
Nigeria and the NPP's friends carrying the
umbrella and being defeated at the polls. Who
doesn't want to be associated with good news, in
case it has what it takes to infect? Therefore,
the NPP is happy because the umbrella (like the
NDC) has suffered defeat in the hands of an
older person (like Nana Addo)
I think certain comparisons are petty and so l
dont intend to discuss them here. I have read of
the 'solomonic' theory, suggesting that Africans
are electing older men to rule them and so Nana
Addo was also going to be elected. Well, they
forgot to add that Africans are also going for the
giants from the North and so JDM is winning the
elections. Hope you see why l hate that analogy
because Nana's height and his geographical
origin will cancel the 'opposition and solomonic'
theories.
I encourage the NPP to celebrate. Let the NDC
be the disadvantaged now. I encourage the NPP
to bank their hope on the simple reason that
what happened in Nigeria becomes their
abracadabra! Let them invoke the name of
Buhari and ACP to win the elections. In fact they
can even go to the extent of changing their
symbol to a broom like they did desperately
under the Great Alliance to see if victory will
smile at them.
For us as NDC people, it is a wake up call! When
Ebola struck the West African subregion, we
prepared to prevent it and to combat it if it
should show its ugly heard! Once we are aware
of a given disease, we develop the needed
vaccine to immunize ourselves against it. The
disease could develop different strains but once
we are conscious of its devastating effect, we
won't sleep till we contain it. We are aware of
the striking similarities between the symbols of
the NDC and the defeated PDP. We are aware of
the circumstances that led both GEJ and JDM to
power. We are also aware that the factors that
prevailed in Nigeria culminating in the defeat of
Jonathan are not the same as ours but we
would assume that ours is even worse and that
the odds are against us. We want to believe that
defeat is awaiting us and as a party in
government, we are lucky unlike Goodluck, to
make amends. We have the disease and we have
the medicine. We shan't ignore to dress the
wound appropriately and that's what will draw
tears from Nana Addo's eyes as he limps to
retirement.
For your information, the NDC will leave no stone
unturned; we shall bend double to break our
backs in fulfilling our pledge to the people. We
will cross rivers, we will go through the valleys
and climb the mountains. We will tumble several
times to where each and every single soul lives
to spread our message and to show concern. We
will search every alley and every street to give
hope to the hopeless. We shall sleep in rocks
and in tress to identify ourselves with the
downtrodden, they are our allies.
With humility, we shall listen and never do what
'killed' the unlucky Goodluck. Goodluck would
have been happier if he had a lifeline like that of
the NDC. We will go through hell to bring victory
to NDC and all Ghanaians. We will stretch our
hands in building bridges till they become weary
and numbed. We are inspired by the insults from
our opponents, we are inspired by the threats on
our lives and the lives of our beloved ones if we
should lose power to them. So what do we do?
Die to be victors than have our lives mesmerized
by some heartless people.
Go on, NPP, celebrate 'your' victory today as we
work for ours in 2016
