BRIEF PRESS STATEMENT BY GENERAL MUHAMMADU BUHARI,GCFR, PRESIDENT ELECT ON THE PLATFORM OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS, APC. MARCH 31ST, 2015

At exactly 5:15pm this evening President Jonathan called to congratulate me on my victory. For this I want all Nigerians to join me in congratulating and appreciating Mr President for his statesmanship.

President Jonathan engaged in a spirited campaign and was a worthy opponent. I extend my hand of fellowship to him. I look forward to meeting him soon as we plan the transition from one administration to another. He will receive nothing but understanding, cooperation and respect from me and my team.

The good people of Nigeria, answered the call of history. When the account of this fine moment is written, it will be said that it was the people themselves who led this nation to democracy.

You stood in line patiently for hours in the sun, rain and then in the dark to cast your ballots. Even when the vote was extended to Sunday in some places, you still performed your civic duty. You did so peacefully. You voted with your heart. Your vote affirms that you believe Nigeria’s future can be better than what it is today.

You voted for change and now change has come.

INEC has released the official results of the Presidential election. INEC has declared that I gained the most votes with the required spread and thus won this election. In a more profound way, it is you, Nigerians that have won. The people have shown their love for our nation and their belief in democracy.

The declaration of INEC accurately reflects the will of the people. Whilethere might have been some logistical obstacles and irregularities associated with the exercise, the result shall stand as what the people want.

I thank all Nigerians who have made this day possible. Our country has now joined the community of nations that have used the ballot box to peacefully change an incumbent President in a free and fair election. To me this is indeed historic.

Most people will welcome the result because it is the one they voted for. Others will naturally be disappointed. I ask that we all be circumspect, respectful and peaceful in these times.

This was a hard- fought contest. Emotions are high. We must not allow them to get the better of us. This is not the time for confrontation. This is a moment that we must begin to heal the wounds and work toward a better future. We do this first by extending a hand of friendship and conciliation across the political divide. We hope and pray our friends in other parties reciprocate.

I thank all the members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for their commitment and their hard work through the formation of the party, the campaigns and the Presidential elections. Let me equally extend my appreciation to the MEDIA, Civil Society and the Security agencies for their selfless service.

The International press and our friends abroad deserve special commendation for their support throughout the process. We promise a robust and dynamic engagement with your countries in matters of mutual interest to nations.

In the interim, I call on all Nigerians to be law abiding and peaceful. The eyes of the world were focused on us to see if we could vote in a peaceful way and carry out a representative election in an orderly manner. You have proven to the world that we are a people who have embraced democracy and a people who seek a of government by, for and of the people.

We have put one party state behind us. You have voted for a party and president that will serve and govern but never rule over you. Change has come. A new day and a new Nigeria are upon us. The victory is yours and the glory is that of our nation – Nigeria
I will make a more formal address to the nation tomorrow after receiving the certificate of return from INEC.

May God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

General Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR,
President Elect,
Federal Republic of Nigeria

[size=15pt]Nigerian's pls help a student, who is in trouble.
I have been seeking help, for over one month now and it is not yet coming.all the people that called, just disappointment.
Am sorry for bringing this kind of issue here, but I have no option than to seek help.anywere.I can get..
I don't want to go into my personal details.
that would be for anyone who ask of it but I just want to say a little about my ordeal..
I am a student of NOUN university, who had been doing well.
I am responsible for my school fees, right from primary school, cos my dad didn't see any need, giving us eduction, but deep inside me.I refused to subcribe to his ideology and I wanted the best for my family, cos our condition was terrible, financially.
My mom had to take care of the education of 7 of us,has the first.I couldn't stand the sight of seeing her go through all does suffering.
Just to give us eduction,so I left home and started hustlin from primary 5 and I took care of my school fees right from then till I graduated from secondary, now am in the university and was doing well, until I invested all I had in an importation business which leta turned out to be a scam, now am down to zero.
My school fees is dew, for a long time now.
I don't even attend lectures and facing possiblilty of bein withdrawn from school.
I would have gone for student loan, but I have tried to secure a student loan before, when I got scholarship to study outside and needed money for my papers, but it was frustrating cos I have no one to stand for me.

The amount in question is,N52,000 and am ready to work for it,if necessary.
I am not saying you should dash me the money,a loan will be well appreciated and am ready to use all my school, birth, state of origin cartificate's, infact all my earthly possesion as a collectorall for the loan
Pls nigerian's. I know so many people bring fake story about such matters online,so am ready to corporate with anybody who can help verify this story.I live in abuja.

Congratulations Baba but for you to also know that We voted GEJ out not because there was a better alternative but so that incompetent leaders will know and fear people's ability to ELECT, SELECT and DE-SELECT..!

Why should we endure another 4 years simply because we fear the unknown? If UNKNOWN comes in and perform same level or worst, we will vote them as well and so on until our leaders get it right.

Please sir, do not make us regret that we sacrificed our time, efforts and votes to put you where you are. Make sure you give us a positive change!

As a nation, when goodluck was there they touted our democracy nascent but we know that there is nothing nascent about our democracy because a fifteen year old girl has started …… and what we had was kleptocracy where we had a bunch of people that are tokenistic and prependal.

This cut across all the tribe but it was not democracy and meritocracy was sacrificed on the alter of quota system and methodology. Then came a Goodluck that was nothing but good all just slow and clueless but the democracy they said continued unabated. I loved GEJ nad still love his lamb nature but he is manipulated and he didn’t fight his wars well. Yesterday he was ousted that the powers that be, maybe he is a Christian, maybe he is an ijaw man, maybe he is a minority maybe they brought out book haram to give him a bad name. coming to bad name in igbo land there is a saying that goes that if you want ton kill a dog please just give him a bad name. that was what happened.

Did he see the handwriting on the wall/ I guess he felt like emperor NERO but all is said, the Nigerian democracy has grown or is it still nascent, today we have transcended from Democracy to Gerontocracy (gerontocracy is a form of oligarchical rule in which an entity is ruled by leaders who are significantly older than most of the adult population)
This is not democracy this is gerontocracy and in a modern age people are talking about e government, m government building smart cities we are going back to Gerontocracy.

Long live Nigeria, long live those that “believe” in Nigeria and congrats to GMB. Let just look on.

1. Remember that you promised to stabilise world oil prices.... We are watching.

2. Remember that you and APC promised 24 hours energy and electricity... We are watching.

3. Remember that you promised millions of jobs for the youths... They are watching and waiting.

4. Remember that you promised to make 1 dollar equals to 1 naira both in appreciation and depreciation.... We are watching.

5. Remember that a lot of people accused the president of not having shoes and called him shoeless. He ignored in the spirit of democracy. Hope you wont arrest anybody that calls you certificateless because me and you know that you have no certificate even standard six.

6. Finally, remember that their is freedom of speech in Nigeria under Jonathan. Even freedom after speech. I do hope you won't gag the press. I know you will grant freedom of speech but you will not grant freedom after speech.. The world is watching!
Good one my friend.
It is not about making big promises just to sit in Aso Rock ,you must deliver your promises to the electorates whom gave you victory based on the assumption that you'll keep your own end of the bargain and that's what makes democracy thick.

We as a people should also hold them by their words after election.

Buhari ,we are waiting and watching and after two years there is no reasonable change made ,we will use the same ballot box to kick your party out and I also hope you'll conduct for us a free and fair election like your predecessor.
I rest my case.
