D, C, B. Would die. grin
Re: Who Dies In This Puzzle? (Photo) by Adwexky(m): 1:44pm On Apr 06, 2015
MY OPINION: C will die if the rooting ball outweighs the other ball, at the end. A will die if the outweighed ball goes up on it way down, it will descend on A. And D position is also risky, he is likely to die, if the rooling ball hooks the hole, he is hiding.

no, watch it, the other part uncovered might be in positioon over his head, i choose C

Man B will die from the stone man E will push...
Re: Who Dies In This Puzzle? (Photo) by Nobody: 6:06pm On Apr 06, 2015
Nobody dies.

By the time it reached D it would have faced down which is that hollow part

as for C the weight of the other ball is much heavier so it will first balance then slide over to the other ball's side (Hopefully)

When E push that stuff it definitely hit D on the head and press C on the ground with that sharp edge...so D and C are gonner.

nobody dies. Man the ball which man E will push isn't as heavy as the ball on the errm "see saw". So the ball will be static when it gets there. Man D will squat as the ball will roll over his hole, the rolling ball can't touch man D cause the opening of the hole is tinier than the spikes of the rolling ball.

D has a 20% possibility of surviving. Look at the arc on the rolling stone. Calculate how many times it rolls and the open space will land on 'D' head.

@young sage it cannot be see cos the rolling ball has a lesser weight to the resting ball

Bros did you measure the balls undecided

Actually no one dies in the puzzle, except they are already dead...truly, we all eventually get to die.

E will die from the cut out part while pushing the stone.

B can see the balls rolling so can easily duck.

The weight of the rolling ball is lesser than the stationery ball, because of the cut out, and based on the position of the cut out, the man in position D would survive, the man in position A wouldn't be crushed because there's no way the stone would roll up to where he's standing

The correct answer is D.

Critically thinking, you'd see that if E pushes the incomplete circle, it rolls down & crush the head of D because the space in the circle does not tally with the head of D while rolling down. Even when it gets to the lever, it can't pull the other side up because the other side would be heavier cos of the space in the circle pushed by E, hence leaving A, B, C & E alive.

D no fit die on the first roll because of Pythagoras theorem. There are five units on that slant so the cutout would align nicely with his head. After that roll we need to figure out if the velocity of the ball is high enough to skip over the other ball at rest. If it is B and A are in danger. It is not impossible for the ball to roll backwards eventually.

We don't know the density of the balls so we can't conclusively say the lever would swing either way IF the ball stops on the free side of the lever.

There are too many assumptions needed (friction, slippage etc) to calculate if the cutout would align with B's head and if the KE of the ball would be sufficient to pivot over the edge protecting A.

The question is probably just a trick question to traverse the scope of one's ability to reason through a problem and really doesn't expect an answer, just good explanations grounded in good science for whatever answer is chosen. Depending on how you shift the variables anyone can die.
Re: Who Dies In This Puzzle? (Photo) by Nobody: 6:17pm On Apr 06, 2015
I think it all depends on some factors.
Let me make the following assumptions before attempting this puzzle:

1. I will call the object being rolled - a "Heavy Steel Ball"
2. D is not aware that the heavy steel ball is coming or let say D didn't see the ball coming
3. The steel ball has the same weight or is equal in weight or mass with the object at C, therefore balancing the lever.

If my assumptions hold, then
1. D may or may not die. Since it is assumed that D did not see the rolling steel ball, then D dies. The only way D is protected from the rolling steel ball or can survive the rolling steel ball is if and only if the cut away part of the steel ball comes in contact with D. If I assume that D sees the rolling ball coming, then D can easily squat on sighting the rolling ball, hence, surviving the attack.
2. Since it is assumed that both objects have the same weight, then the lever will be balanced since we have the same weight on both sides of the lever balance
3. Every other thing being equal, A and B will survive

I think the survival of A, B and C is also going to depend on the mass or weight of the object being rolled (the heavy steel ball). We could also make an assumption that the object being rolled is greater in mass or weight than the object at the extreme left of C. if this is the case, then the heavy steel ball will push the lever downwards and this will kill C instantly.

However, if the rolled weighs less, then on reaching C, the object will not have sufficient effort to balance the lever or bring the other object on the left upwards. In this case, it will run over the other object and hit B, hence, B dies, or it could move further after hitting the lever (right) at C and strike A, then A dies.

I think it depends on the scenario. No right or wrong answer. Just argue your case constructively.
Re: Who Dies In This Puzzle? (Photo) by sleemoon(m): 6:18pm On Apr 06, 2015
D, C and B are going
to die. D dies directly after coming in contact with the object, C dies
after being thrust by the spikes of the see-saw and B dies with the
blue ball.
But consider the situation that the person at E stands for Ebola.
Eventually A dies as well.
