I was reading Yuzedo's thread on "20 things weathy people do that poor people do not do" and came to realise this:

Poor people have been oppressed for so long that when they taste money, it becomes obvious that it is something they are not used to. Even the things they spend money on are things that they desired as poverty-striken children, things that offer instant gratification as opposed to lifetime investments that will last generations to come. Fast cars, expensive watches, expensive clothes, whiskeys that are older than their grandparents, gadgets etc. That's the nature of the new wealth. While Old money whispers, new money screams...
