The incumbent Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday won his polling unit, Kwankira, Kaura ward with 311 votes to defeat his major contender, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who polled 56 votes. In the same vein, the APC candidate Mallam El-rufai also won his polling unit at Ungwan Sarki polling 360 votes to defeat the incumbent governor who polled only 42 votes. Other results trickling in as at the time of filing this report showed that the APC candidate was progressively leading .
