From the time of Adam, the decree has been that we must die for our sins. God's sentence was: "The soul that sins, it shall die" (Ezekiel18:20). But Jesus changed all that. He came to this world, went to the cross voluntarily to pay our penalty for sin. Through the grace of God, Jesus Christ tasted death for every man. Jesus cares for your soul. He cares enough that He endured the cross, despised the shame, all because of you. He suffered the humiliation of all the sufferings as though guilty, yet He was innocent. He suffered the betrayal of a close companion, the terrible pain of being scourged and He was nailed to a Roman cross and left to die, all because He cares for your soul.

The problem we all have in this world is that we give little thought to the kind of life we live. There are times when we consciously turn away from (backsliding, or apostasy), showing that we no longer deserve the love of God as He does not simply tolerate such attitude, yet instead of us to allow the word of God to do its work of conviction, we simply wish away our actions as just human weakness.

Jesus reminded us in the Bible that whoever finds himself in trouble from which he cannot extricate himself, whether it be alcohol or marital problems, can still get help from God through repentance. We do not tend to or have regard to God's word that urges us to repent the moment we keep looking unto people instead of unto God. For most people their problem is to know whether they are the only people that did or are doing that. They want to know if other people are into the same sinful act that they are being asked to repent of.

To be fair to this, no matter who is in the same sinful act with you does not change the evil in it. Sin is the ruin of all, no matter the form it appeared in. If you are occupied with dressing up the outward part of sin by making remarks to other people, then your salvation is too far from being real. When sin plays such a decisive role in our lives, then we need to come to terms with it, however outdated the concept may be considered. The word has a simple meaning: erring from the right pathway. God ordained that pathway for mankind once for all time. The so-called Ten Commandments are exemplary in this respect. However, they culminate in the command to love God with all our being and our neighbour as ourselves. Now people are naturally disinclined to ask after God, and that is what God's Word calls "lawlessness".

That is the root cause of all the problems. All have sinned. That is, unfortunately, normal state of things; it leads to eternal condemnation, if the matter of our sins hasn't been dealt with in conjunction with God during our lifetime. We are called to receive salvation from Jesus. The apostle Paul wrote that Jesus was delivered up for our trespasses, and was raised for our justification. Jesus cares, and invites you, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). Jesus Christ went to the cross so that you would have a way of escape from sin and the consequences of a sinful life. He wants you to be saved, and is not willing that anybody should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). When our lives are heading in the wrong direction, Jesus cares, and He offers a new direction to us: "He died for all that they that live should not live unto themselves, but unto Him who for their sakes died and rose again" (2 Corinthians 5:15). Friend, Jesus cares!
