The result was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer, Professor Bio Nyananyo of the Federal University, Otuoke, at the commission’s headquarters in Okpanam Road, Asaba the state capital. Professor Nyananyo said that Senator Okowa was declared winner after he had polled a total of 724,680 votes.
