Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have been traveling the Middle East over the last few days,
and on Monday, they decided to make the most
of their visit by having their daughter North West baptized while in the Holy Land. After visiting Armenia, Kim, Kanye and North flew to
Jerusalem, Israel, in a private plane so that North
could undergo the religious ceremony. A
spokesperson from St. James Cathedral in
Jerusalem confirmed to the Jerusalem Post that the couple brought the 22-month-old to the
church for the 30-minute ceremony. Built during the 12th century, St. James Cathedral
is located near the Armenian Quarter’s entry gate
and is the principal church of the Armenia
Patriarchate of Jerusalem, the newspaper
reported. Kim, who wore a long-sleeved dress that reached
to her ankles for the ceremony, was
accompanied by her sister Khloe Kardashian and
members of the Kardashian security team. Both
Kanye and North were dressed all in white.
According to E! Online, Kim and Kanye chose Khloe to be North's godmother, and no godfather
was chosen. The site reports that after the
ceremony, the Kardashian clan dined with
Jersusalem mayor Nir Barkat at a local restaurant. Prior to North’s baptism, the family visited
several other churches and Middle East
landmarks. Kim and Khloe, who are of Armenian
heritage, visited the Mother Armenia statue as
well as the Genocide memorial in Yerevan. On
Saturday, Kim, Khloe, their cousins, as well as Kanye and North were spotted at a church in
Armenia lighting candles. The family has been
surrounded by guards at each spot they have
visited.
On Sunday, Kanye threw a spur-of-the-moment
concert in Yerevan. “Kanye is doing a free concert for everyone in
Yerevan at midnight tonight Swan Lake- Karapi
Litch! See you there!” Kim tweeted, later adding,
“Crazy night! Kanye wakes me up & says he's
doing a free concert in Yerevan, Armenia! I
throw on sweats & we go! Thousands of people were there! Kanye jumped in swan lake to be
closer to the crowd on the other side & so many
people jumped in too!” According to the Jerusalem Post, Kim and Co. will
leave Jerusalem on Tuesday morning and head to
the nearby country of Jordan.
