From Clay To Porcelain

Firmly place moist fingers around me. Tight; secure.
The wheel is gathering speed. It's pace so demure.
Captivating eyes concentrate - focused and still.
While I let you take my soul wherever you will.

Smooth over imperfections, caress my new frame.
Run your palms up my body, then back down again.
Like soft clay, I'm ready and eager for you to mold,
My life in poised, pure fingertips, destined to hold.

In two strong hands I place my life - don't lose grip.
One uneven placement - my heart is bound to slip.
So craft me with love then lead me to the fire,
As a slow temperature rises, taking my body higher.

Once I've been heated, I'll never be clay again.
A once humble substance is now strong porcelain.
Beautiful and pure, yet delicate and fair.
Thus written across my heart is, "Handle with care."

And decorated with precision, an artistic brush
Strokes me with kisses, revealing a most ardent love.
Then standing back, your eyes warm and tender,
Gaze upon my completion, in awe of my splendour.
