The way adjectives are thrown around amuse me.
Colossus of what?
Being famous is not equivalent to aiding development.
I have asked for his specific contributions to his senatorial district in the last 12 years he was occupying the Senate and feeding fat off the Commonwealth in the form of the immorality huge pay of our assembly members
.
Secondly, why was he as silent as a grave yard while Ochendo Turned Abia to a private enterprise?
Socialist and liberal movement indeed!!
We need to stop rewriting the history of our leaders at death all in the name of saying no evil against the dead.
I am not asking for anyone to denigrate the memory of the man, all I ask for are answers to my salient questions.

Well, I am sorry if your knowledge of the history and fame of the name Comrade Uche Chukwumerije is only limited to his years as a legislator between 2003 and 2015. It does not surprise me though because most of the today's newbreed commentators on Nigeria's history have no idea about events that happened in the 1980s, let alone those that took place in the 70s and 60s. Go and ask around if you can't get any books about the history of Nigeria since independence to read. By the 1960s, Uche Chukwumerije was already a force of nature nationally because of his role as a student unionist at the University of Ibadan as well as his involvements as a polemicist down to his illustrious activities as one of the countries most reknowned socialist thinkers. His reputation as a fighter for the oppressed was however sealed forever through his heroic roles in Biafra as one of the intellectual and philosophical avatars, with the likes of Chinua Achebe and Francis Ellah, behind the conceptualisation and intellectual defence of the idea of Biafra as the last bastion of protection from oppression and ethnic cleansing for millions of Easterners who had been forced to seek refuge in Eastern Nigeria from all the four corners of the federation. Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the Oxford educated philosopher king led group of some of the finest brains that this nation could assemble under such an emergency and today their work speaks for them including the great Ahiara Declaration which has inspired such imitative clones across other nationalities in Nigeria since then. Chukwumerije's last known fight for equity and fairness was on the floor of the Senate where he led the senators from the South East to demand for an extra state created out of the South East geo-political zone to eliminate the deliberate marginalisation of a zone in the national economic and political scheme of things. Uche Chukwumerije had a reputation to speak his mind based on his convictions and principles no matter whose ox was gored and so it is laughable that you are implying that he might have been too timid to speak out against T.A. Orji's mismanagement of Abia State these past 8 years. One of the reasons why Chukwumerije was not fazed by anyone whenever he deemed it fit to pursue any objective was partly because he was intellectually fortified, having made a first class at the University of Ibadan in the 1960s, and so could stand his ground in any debate or intellectual contest. but more importantly, he was a brave man who, though meek and gentle in appearance, was inwardly a lion that pounced on the foolish and the conceited.
As far as anyone could see, Comrade Uche Chukwumerije was involved in the more fundamental issues that engaged this country during his life time and it would amount to an insult to limit the extent of his universal engagements and interventions to the narrow confines of TA Orji and his puny acivities as governor of Abia State. Uche Chukwumerije was a man of the world, a renaissance man in his own right who was not limited to the insularities that certain politicians in Nigeria today are known for.

Your defence is unacceptable. That he was a union leader in the 60s does not negate his docility and complicity in later years while his state was being r.aped. Besides I have not even scratched his infamous role in Abacha government.
You sound funny whem you claim he was more involved in fundamental issues while his house was on fire. Which constitutional altering bills did he initiate in the last eight years while Abia was being violated by Ochendo and his son?
Latching onto his glorious past while forgetting his compromising end is dubious at best.
It is like reminding us about the union days of Labaran Maku and ignoring his sycophantic recent days.

My dear, forget all those socialist thinking and philosophical posturing. In recent years the man was no different from the barbarians who have taken over the market square having being emboldened to move from the street corner.
You can not be a senator for 12 years with no tangible benefit to the masses therein ( I am not talking of lousy Borehole projects and scam scholarship schemes) and be parroting social thinking and philosophical jargon, then expect to earn eulogies that depict the generality of people as suffering from amnesia.
He might have had very good intentions but I am not spiritually atuned enough to read the heart of men. We shall judge him by what we see and in totality.

Fighting for the creation of an extra state for your region is not a measure of a man's intellectual prowess. Idiots have been using that agenda to further their ethnic jingostic agendas since 1960. Fighting for an extra state for igbos on the floor of the Senate should not be a reason to poor ecomium on anyone.
By the way, state creation is not our biggest need as a people.
It is used to extend the baked cake eaten by the politicians with no direct proportional benefit in terms of development to the masses.

The Goebbels of Nigeria! He left an infamous legacy. Viciously assaulted and raped democracy in Nigeria only to profit by her each day he sat and drew on the allowances and honour the office of a Senator afforded him. Indeed true according to scriptures that their works do follow them - even where no one tells it as it is under the guise of "not speaking Ill of the dead"!

The difference between the Man on the street of average and the man on the street of affluent is that, the later against all odds consciously and consistently pursue his or her dreams, plans, set goals to the later and at all times recognised/acknowledged God as the chief Executor of plans..Hold on till the end even when its few days left..Xmas in advance house
