I regularly shop online on konga.com using the pay on delivery option. I saved orders down by weekend to place today....
Trying to place the order, I noticed two things. I no longer saw the pay on delivery option for my location, also noticed that the cost of shipping increased drastically.

Calling customer care, I was told they launched a new platform today.

I feel this is a bad move

Sales will reduce because of this. Personally, shipping of 5,000 for items worth 10,000 is not it.

Who else has noticed this?

You should have asked them the new platform. When I spoke with one of their agents last week, she also mentioned about launching a new platform. According to her, it will have it's own good and bad sides.
1)Sellers all around Nigeria can now post their items for sell and contact the buyer directly, while KONGA will be like an escrow handling the money (no need for sellers to drop their items to KONGA drop centres, which gives much hassles)
2)Number of listed items will increase
3)Cheaper shipping rates if the seller is near you.

It might seem hard now, but I guess it will get better soonest.

my 2 cents.
cheers!
