KWANKWASO ESTABLISHES
BOARDING SCHOOL FOR
BORNO CHILDREN
Kano state governor, Rabi’u Kwankwaso today (Tuesday) commissioned the Borno Orphans Model Boarding Primary School in Kano city. The school was constructed by the government of Kano state under its Special Intervention Progamme for the orphaned children affected by the insurgency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states. Speaking during the occasion, Gov. Kwankwaso revealed that as its brothers’ keeper, his administration was moved by the condition of internally displaced children leading it to design the school to accommodate 100 pupils from Borno state.

“The special intervention programme is aimed at taking up full responsibilities of 100 children,
who are between the ages of 5-6 whose parents are either dead, displaced or lost as a result of the insurgency”, the governor stated. Kwankwaso explained that under the boarding school arrangement, “the state government will take care of the children’s education, training, upbringing, feeding, clothing,
security, health care and accommodation”. According to him, Kano state government will continue to
look after the children until they complete basic education, if the security situation in the states affected by the insurgency improves and when it is safe for them to return home.

He stated that the plight of the children who have been deprived of parental care and concern as a result of the security challenges in North eastern Nigeria was brought to his attention by NEMA and other
concerned state holders. Governor Kwankwaso, therefore, implored the Federal Government, state governments and other well-meaning individuals and groups to come to the aid of the orphans to make their lives more meaningful. The governor revealed that the state Commissioner for Health has been directed to appraise the medical condition each of the pupils with a view to identifying those that need special medical care, for necessary action. Turning to the pupils, Kwankwaso counseled them not to be
discouraged by their condition but to pay attention to moraland academic excellence because they are potential leaders of tomorrow.

In her remarks, the Borno state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Fanta Baba Shehu
said: “Not even the Federal Government has done what you did for us today”, adding that Kwankwaso has written his name in gold in the history of Borno state. The Commissioner, who went ahead to tell the gathering the plight of the children, whom she said, lost their family members and homes, could not complete her speech as she abruptly burst into tears. In their respective remarks, which were very emotional, three of the pupils, Ibrahim Maina, Saidu Ishaku and Muhammad Idris thanked Governor
Kwankwaso for his compassion and prayed Almighty Allah to guide and protect him.

Others who spoke during the occasion including the Emir of Kano, Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, represented by Dangoribar Kano, Alhaji Ado Kura, the state ESSPIN Coordinator, Hajiya ‘Yardada Maikano and the representative of NEMA, Musa Ilallah stressed the need for concerted efforts to protect and
educate children from insurgency affected states. Halilu Ibrahim Dantiye, fnge, mni Director of Press and Public Relations to the Executive Governor of Kano state,

Infact Egypt is at the fore front of western education in Africa. Wonder why na our muslim go carry foreign religion for head pass the owners.
