It is time for us as a nation to begin to take advantage of globalization and begin to create real wealth through enormous global investment opportunities maximizing the intrinsic value of hard earned ''sleeping'' Assets and real estate instead of waiting and depending on rental income which may not amortize our investment in 20 or even 30 years.

Join me on this thread as we discuss further on this.

Watch out.

ASSETS -

Definitions (2)

1.Something valuable that an entity owns, benefits from, or has use of, in generating income.

2.Accounting: Something that an entity has acquired or purchased, and that has money value (its cost, book value, market value, or residual value). An asset can be (1) something physical, such as cash, machinery, inventory, land and building, (2) an enforceable claim against others, such as accounts receivable, (3) right, such as copyright, patent, trademark, or (4) an assumption, such as goodwill.

Assets can be converted into cash. We also have intangible assets and tangible assets.

Types of assets include machineries, equipments, Landed properties, Furnitures, Stocks, shares, fixed deposits, debtors, cash, etc.

However for the purpose of this discussions, we will limit ourselves to those assets which are readily used as collaterals in banks. and which of course has the high value especially high-brow Landed properties, Fixed deposits, shares and cash.

Sleeping is when those so-called assets are either in idle mode or not yielding enough earning or incomes at their optimal level.

An example is our landed property; a property in Magodo may cost N70m. and its being rented out at N1.5m per annum. Tell me how many years you will take to amotize your investment. Some do not even put their property to let attal. Its just there being idle in the name of shelter. A property is more a shelter.

Meanwhile there are other investment opportunities you can put the property to, to generate more income that will not even affect the so-called rental income from coming in. Income that will be so regular that you may even retire from work live all by it.

Most times in a nation called Nigeria due to so many issues befallen us, a lot of information passes us by. Information such as that as made Bill Gate to be Bill Gate and Warren Buffet to be Warren Buffet.

Some time when you see a so call rich man; its nothing about hardwork; but just information.

while one is running after his tenants to collect 2-3 years at ago. He is at peace taking the money as it comes.

Also those that put their money the bank for fixed deposits. somebody one said that the worst form of investment is fixed deposit. I totally agree.

At most a good bank, like GT, may gives you 10% per annum on N60m. How much is that? After trading with your money from months to months.
However the beautiful thing is that do you know you can at the same earning 10% in the bank as well as earning on trading with the Fixed deposit certificate given to you by the bank. I bet you dont? Think about that.

Those that have stock(shares as we do call it) in blue chip company yielding dividends and bonus for you yearly or not, depending on the performance of the company. Do you know you call equally optimize all this ROI (Return on Investments)

Not to talk about those that have cash and doesnt know the right in investment to invest in or the one that give optimized returns.

Its high time we take advantage of global investment and trends in the financial world.

Remember that you are poor is not God fault or God's will for you. He has made everything available in the garden of Eden.

Why Overseas or Offshore Investment?

1. It is important to diversify the location of our investment portfolio in order to give more opportunity for expansion into more developed countries and to reduce the risk of putting all our eggs in one basket.

2. We earn US Dollar returns, a more stable currency than the Nigerian Naira, hence we hedge against inflation and depreciation of the value of our assets.

3. Our children can represent us in the nearest future on the board of the Offshore companies.

4. It gives more exposure to international clime and diverse opportunities may follow.

5. We assist our nation in the supply of foreign currency into the Nigerian economy when we earn US Dollars.

6. It gives us the opportunity to interact with people of other Nations at business level and benefit immersely from this interaction.

7. It enhances greater opportunity to enter into other businesses of importing or exporting as we relate with businesses overseas.
