Rafael Benitez has reportedly met with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis to discuss a new contract despite speculation linking him with a move back to the Premier League.
Benitez has been strongly linked with the managerial post at Manchester City while West Ham and Newcastle could also be in the market to appoint the former Liverpool boss.
The Spanish coach is out of contract at the end of the season and he was expected to walk away from the Serie A side and seek a new challenge elsewhere.
But with Napoli reaching the semi-finals of the Europa League and the possibility of playing in the Champions League next season, Benitez could yet agree a deal to stay in Italy.
Italian website TuttoNapoli claims that a meeting took place on Monday between Benitez and De Laurentiis and the Napoli President discussed his future plans for the club.
It now remains to be seen if Benitez will pledge his long-term future to the Italian club or make a return to England next season.
