reason behind these increasing trend, though not justifiable is as a result of our traditional beliefs on having children as married couples, thereby making most women impatient or in other word tired of waiting for the time of the lord. Also the too much emphasis on male child in the family too. The nigerian process of adoption is too slow and tacky most times , thereby making it difficult for most people to adopt new born babies, most times you wait for almost a year before the whole adoption process may be completed. This has made so many people to result into the alternative of getting children from the black market. Even Naptip on the other hand is just like any other government establishments full of bureacracy and under managed.

I said this again and again,Nigeria needs to map out an easy way for people to have their unwanted babies adopted
The truth is that there are people who have babies and they don't want to keep them and there are people willing to pay a fortune to get those babies.
Until the adoption process is made easy and demystified, this will not go away
It's either the mothers throw then inside gutters and dustbins and or they sell them
The local authorities need to address this issue , criminalizing the act and punishing perpetrators hasn't made it go away
