THERE IS ONLY ONE PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA
--Attorney Patryk Utulu*

Under our Constitution there is --and can be-- ONLY ONE PRESIDENT of Nigeria at a time. President Jonathan retains FULL EXECUTIVE powers of decision-making (appointments, dismissals, suspensions, nominations) as granted by the Nigerian Constitution and ancillary provisions up to --and including-- May 29, 2015, until Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari takes the oath of office. On their way to the May 29 inauguration (assuming they ride in the same vehicle) there still would be only one President of Nigeria (Dr. Jonathan); if, heaven forfend, Nigeria should come under attack that morning it would be to Dr. Jonathan, not Buhari, that the Nigerian Military and defence forces look for command; and even at the venue of the hand-over ceremony Dr. Jonathan would remain sole President of Nigeria with full executive authority...until Buhari takes the oath of office.

You have the right to keep watering seeds of triumphalist totalitarianism and winner-take-all intolerance in your imagination but we do live in the reality Republic of Nigeria. So it reflects crude arrogance, bad manners and/or illiteracy to question the right of the President of Nigeria to use his full executive authority while he remains president.

Finally, those who invest mischievous juvenile energy in undermining the current Presidency can hardly complain when the next person assumes that office devoid of respectability and respect.

Be respectful, please.

Naa...that is not the point.

If GMB declares today that "i will sack all new appointees made between March 28 and May 28"...

...then you will know the difference between "President" of Nigeria and "Resident" of Aso-Rock

This guy woulf have collected so much from the outgoing government for image laundering. At least last minute justification for the pay is not bad. In America, you work for every dolar you get. so getting free money from Jonathan is enough to spew rubbish.

Sai baba grin grin grin grin grin

NB: We know the constitution, we know GEJ is the President till May28 and that there is a President-Elect who is doing nothing unconstitutional, but preparing for the handover from the President GEJ.

Is that not all?

He's saying the truth but some sentimental folks would say otherwise... U can't have 2 captains on one boat.
GMB should reduce his anxieties but rather channel all his exuberance on thinking on how to fulfill his promises he made to Nigerians.

The whole write-up lacks objectivity. It reeks of bias, anger and vituperations from an incurably wounded apologist of a bad loser.
Thus, it's one boring prose of hogwash to the descerning mind.

Why read for motive you can't substantiate? Your line of reasoning is the problem and not the article.

You have chosen to embrace illegality for reasons to justify political persuasion hence any article critical of your ideology is bias and sentimental.

The choice is yours.
