Today, HTC reported that its April revenues have taken a plunge by around 38.6 percent every year. Following the same, the analysts have started blaming the One M9 claiming that its sales have been disappointing.Notably, the April revenue figure is the worst that HTC has ever reported in the past six years. HTC made $439.95 million revenue in April that is significantly low from the revenue of $719.24 million that the firm generated in April 2014. Also, the same dropped by 32.26 percent in comparison to the revenue it generated in March this year accounting to $652.44 million.
An analyst tolling for Yuanta Securities Investment Consulting Co. claimed that the shipments of the One M9 flagship smartphone totaled to 4.75 million units in the month of April. It is claimed that this is a steep decline from the 8 million units of One M8 shipped in April last year and 35.71 percent decline in the sales than the 7 million units of sales of the One M7 in April 2013.
It is likely that the firm might increase its revenues in May with the launch of the One M9+ and One E9+ smartphones in the Chinese market. The analyst also claimed that HTC might have undervalued the speculations tipping the impact of the usage of the Snapdragon 810 chipset on the sales of the One M9. The chipset made the phone prone to overheating leading to poor reviews and unwillingness of carriers to stock the phone.
Samsung, on the other hand, used its in-house Exynos 7420 chipset for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones. These devices are the best sellers and they might create a record in the Galaxy S shipments. An executive of Samsung allegedly stated that the firm is expecting to sell 70 million units of these two models.HTC is expecting to report $1.5 billion to $1.7 billion revenue in the second quarter, but a KGI Bank analyst stated that HTC will have to struggle to reach even the low end of this range.
