The police council on Tuesday confirmed Mr. Solomon Arase as the substantive Inspector General of Police. The Council was presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan. Arase was a Deputy Inspector -General of Police before he was appointed as acting Inspector General of Police after President Jonathan suddenly relieved former Inspector-General, Mr. Suleiman Abba of his work without given any reason. Solomon Arase holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Law as well as Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Political Science and Strategic Studies. He is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Defence College.
