This peice was meant to be in a “Count Down
Form” but what I feel for Vector wouldn’t give
me that time to start writing on the others
like Simi, Adol, and so on…Olanrewaju
Ogunmefun a.k.a VECTOR has been widely
celebrated as one of the best rappers in
Africa.
Vector is not a green horn in Nigerian Music
Industry as he been very popular in Mainland
(Lagos) since mid-2000s and became known
nationwide in 2010.
As good and famous as he is, Vector is by far
the most underrated musician from this part
of the world. Lets do a simple analyses here;
Talent wise, very few African artists are
better. Lyrically He is a beast and his delivery
is among the very best around. When you talk
about punchlines and wordplays Vector is
second to non (he’s even ahead of the great
MI).
One of the organizers of the just concluded
Unilorin Faculty of Engineering Awards Night
and Gig revealed to me how much they paid
the two main artists who came for the event
(Reekado Banks and Vector the Viper) the
“combo” is ok but i got “vexed” when he told
me they were paid same amount (ofcourse
after serious negotiations). I was like how on
earth would Vector and Reekado Banks charge
or be paid thesame amount (N400k). I am not
saying Reekado Banks doesn’t deserve to be
paid that amount but I expect Vector to have
left that level and at thesame time “MAVINS
Factor played out for Banks. Untill recently I
used to see Donjazzy as one overrated
individual (though I still dont think He’s good
at singing though he keeps improving in this
area. -I believe anybody can learn how to sing
and one naturally gets better when you do
thesame thing overtime) but after critical
analysis of his imput in terms of restructuring
and developing artists I changed my mind and
doffed my hat. Frankly, without the MAVINS
FACTOR (Donjazzy’s imput) no OAU student
would pay a kobo more than N100 to watch
any MAVIN ARTIST except Tiwa Savage #fact.
Maybe N120 for Korede Bello because he is
one of the raves of the moment.
-Further illustration
Without Donjazzy, someone like D’Prince
would never have dreamt of being a musician.
The whole world knows that there is no basis
for comparism between Vector and D’prince
but D’prince would cost Events Organizers
more (thats packaging and Vector lacks this). I
don’t know much about how this Record
Label things work but I think Vector should
really consider joining not just a good label
but MAVINS, a developement I know would
excite Don Jazzzy. Now we have been able to
establish the fact that Vector’s major problem
is “Packaging” and I think only MAVINS can
upgrade him to the level he deserve to be by
now.
I know the N400k would shock many but most
of our musicians charge around that amount.
I know Eva, Sheyi Shey, Sean Tizzle, Faze, Dj
Zeez, Harrysong, Emma Nyra etc does.
Don’t mind the millions you see in paper and
online (all na packaging). Even Wizkid’s
nanagement once agreed on N800k when he
was “publishing” N1.5m as his asking price. I
learnt he charges between N3.5 and N4.5 now
(good for him)

I thought I was d only one who really appreciated vector. I love d guy. He's jus too good but I think joinin mavins wil make him look like a joke, I wud prefer CHOC CITY or hypertek wit d likes of 2face whom he's already a close friend wit... Mavins is gud bt I dnt see any talent, even dija dts mature amongst all of dem is faultering since she became one of dem, I wud advice her to leave too

Underrated or not, at the end of the day, it's all about the Benjamins.

What does that mean? (BENJAMIN)

I so love this guy, joining choc city will actually look somehow too and there'll equally be some form of competition cos most of them na rappers and good ones for that matter so maybe Hypertek is the best choice.
