Anambra Governor’s Aide In Trouble Over Sale Of N39m Ogidi Land by Nobody: 9:07pm On May 14, 2015
A Personal assistant to Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State, Mr. Ekume Amaechi, has been charged to the Ogidi magistrate court in Idemili North Local Government Area, following his alleged illegal acquisition of over 500 plots of land in the area.

Ekume was also accused of selling ten plots of land in the area totaling the sum of N39 million belonging to the family of Igwe Amobi the traditional ruler of the Ogidi community.

The Personal Assistant to Obiano on Urban Development (Ekume) was charge to court along with one Mr. Arinze Okonkwo, Sunday Nwoka and Maduako Peter Obi by the state police command.

Speaking with reporters in Ogidi, one of the plaintiffs Chief Chibuzo Amobi, alleged that the accused persons had sold four plots of land at the cost of 15 million naira and another six plots of land at the cost of 24 million naira.

According to the suit they were sued on a four count charges of breach of peace, misdemeanor and removing of land of beacons belonging to Chief Chibuzo Amobi and the entire Igwe Amobi family.

The charges read thus”That you Arinze Okonkwo M, Sunday Nwoka M, Maduako Peter-Obi M, and Ekume Amaechi M on same date and place in the aforesaid magisterial District conspired among yourselves and unlawfully removed twenty (20) boundary beacons belonging to Chief Chibuzo Amobi and Igwe Amobi family, you thereby committed and offence punishable under section 427 of Criminal Code Cap 36 vol.11. revised laws of Anambra State of Nigeria 1991 as amended.

“That you Arinze Okonkwo M, Sunday Nwoka M, Maduako Peter-Obi M, and Ekume Amachi M, on the same date and place in the aforesaid magisterial district willfully and unlawfully destroyed twenty beacons valued at one hundred thousand naira (100,000.00) and some economics trees valued at one hundred and twenty thousand naira (120,000.00) all totaling two hundred and twenty thousand naira (220,000.00) property of one Chibuzo Amobi and Igwe Amobi family. You thereby committed an offence punishable under section 415(1) of the Criminal Code Cap36 vol.11. revised laws of Anambra State of Nigeria 1991 as amended”.

When the matter was called for mention the accused persons were said not have been in court and the matter was adjourned to Monday next week for mention.
