Most internet expert regard Blogging as a new media which refers to the act of posting content on a blog (a Web log or online journal) or posting comments on someone else's blog.
Randy Duermyer in one of his article on "Why Blogging is so Popular" states that , Blogging is very popular today because it allows people to interact with each other. Blogging has also become a popular search engine optimization (SEO) tool because search engines like Google and Yahoo know that a blog is frequently updated with content or visitor comments, so their spiders visit blogs frequently looking for new content to include in their index.

However at the just concluded West Africa Bloggers Conference, which was organised by GistMate Communications Limited 15 and 16 of May 2015 actually delivered as promised. The speakers who presented at the event are :

Clara Okoro (MD Brand World Media)
Tomi Ogunlesi – Brand Manager of First Bank Nigeria
Ayo Oyebade (MD Advert Strikers LTD and CEO GistMate Communications LTD)
Alaezi Akpuru (Style Consultant Jumia Nigeria)
Lanre Aina – Google Nigeria (Business Development)

Hmm! All those Linda Ikeji clowns really need to read this...especially number 3. How do you plan to be as rich as Linda Ikeji when you and hundreds of other bloggers wait till she posts, then you copy and post her news in your own blog. It can't work that way. You don't even have to be in the gossip/entertainment niche, that market is saturated...there are many things to blog about. I blog about rap music (kaysrapzone.com), and I can say I am fairly popular, not just in Nigeria, but worldwide. I'm not rich, not at all...but I am getting there. Anyway,if you have problem lasting long in bed, hit me up on BBM- 7C22F6EC.

How many of the speakers make money from blogging?
Re: 25 Quotes From Blogging Experts At West Africa Bloggers Conference by ITbomb(m): 3:31pm On May 19, 2015
None from any blogger.

Is it some kind of tutorial class or a discussion parley.
Bloggers should be talking more not service providers

I need a good tech blogger to give backlinks to, I need some old quality how-to articles especially on rooting

[size=18pt]So how many bloggers came from the other West African countries and shared the perspectives of their blogosphere?
And who says blogging is a new media?
The first web log was created in 1997 before Google was created in 1998.
By population, it is embarrassing that out of a population of over 70 million Nigerians on the internet, active bloggers in Nigeria are not even up to 1000 when there are more than 172 million blogs on the internet.

Not surprisingly, the most active bloggers are younger people who have grown up during the blogging "revolution", which started about seven years ago. Bloggers in the 21-to-35 year-old demographic group account for 53.3% of the total blogging population. This group is followed by the generation just behind them - people 20-years-old or under are 20.2% of the blogging landscape. This group is closely followed by 36-to-50 year-olds (19.4%), while bloggers who are 51-years-old and older only account for 7.1%.

By Country

It should not be much of a surprise that the most bloggers (29.2%) are located in the U.S. In fact, there are more than four times as many bloggers in the U.S. as there are in the second most populated country within the blogosphere - the U.K., which is home to 6.75% of bloggers.

Japan accounts for the third-most bloggers (4.9%), followed by Brazil (4.2%), Canada (3.9%), Germany (3.3%), Italy (3.2%), Spain (3.1%), France (2.9%) and Russia (2.3%).

26th quote - don't forget to get a day job or maintain one if you already have until you are sure your blog is able to feed you.

Only 5 percent of blogs globally are viable business . I am sure the statistics might be lower in Nigeria
