A DANGEROUS PALACE COUP

Two Tenures of Office for Governors and Presidents as a Constitutional Provision
It is pertinent to mention here that the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria mandatorily makes the offices of the Governor and that of the President as the only two executive offices with a maximum of two tenures of four (4) years each tenure.
The six Geo-Political Zones and Rotational Presidency
The six geo-political zones were created primarily for the rotation of the office of the president among the six geo-political zones. Therefore, each zone becomes “President Personified”, entitled to two tenures of four (4) years each tenure. Thus, the two tenure entitlement of the South-South geo-political zone to the presidency has now been forcefully truncated just after one tenure. Please Note!
The Zoning Philosophy in Nigeria
I am an apostle of the zoning philosophy because it is only by it that our children even those yet unborn in the South-South geo-political zone which is a minority area zone can aspire to the highest office and other lucrative offices in the land. I have written all that needs must be written in a lucid language on the topic captioned above and so I do not intend to dwell on it again here. I can only refer anyone interested, to my write-up captioned, “THE TRUE SPIRIT AND APPLICATION OF THE ZONING PHILOSOPHY” which is at www.nairaland.com I authenticate all that it carries.
Suffice it to say here that those who pretend not to like the application of the zoning system, (1) do not wish Nigeria well; (2) are only postponing the evil day; (3) should rest assured that there is a danger of a break-up looming in the horizon of Nigeria’s landscape if not in this generation, then in generations to come unless all orchestrations by the major ethnic groups to permanently marginalize the minority South-South geo-political zone which produces and will by the grace of God continue to produce the bulk of the nation’s wealth, diversification or no diversification, are nipped in the bud right now. According to Hajia Mohammed of Kano speaking on Fact File of Ray power on Monday 6/4/2015 who said and I quote, “Though Northerners are considered introverts, you can push a people to the wall and when you push a people to the wall, they will fight back” unquote.
Let us learn from what is happening in Ukraine as it can happen anywhere else and be sober, understanding, loving, flexible, accommodating, not being oppressive, not being violent, all of which are vital and necessary ingredients for happy and mutual co-existence but all of which appear elusive among ethnic groups in Nigeria.
A Clarion Call on President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and the National Assembly
I give glory to the Almighty God who has used the incumbent President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to enthrone His peace that passeth all understanding in our nation, Nigeria, despite all the glaring political betrayal by the Northern big wigs of his party, the PDP against him. To Him, God Alone, be all the glory. We celebrate Him (God).
I therefore pray the Almighty God to further use the same incumbent President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and the National Assembly to enthrone yet a greater peace that will save Nigeria permanently from disintegration now or in the future by prevailing on President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to sign into Law as part of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the recommendations of the defunct CONFAB which recommendations have received the amendment and the nod of the National Assembly as well as the approval of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), before leaving office. By this act, the zoning philosophy would have been enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the South-South geo-political zone which is absolutely a minority area zone would be assured that the highest office of the land would be accessible by its citizens as provided for, in the constitution under the rotational presidency of the zoning philosophy among the six geo-political zones. It would have become a right to claim if short changed and NOT a privilege from any major ethnic groups or group. Signing the recommendations of the CONFAB into law, will be the greatest, far-reaching and most beneficial legacy to Nigeria and indeed to Nigerians that President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and the National Assembly would have left on the sands of time and in the annals of Nigeria’s political history.
Unnecessary and Avoidable Recurrent Loss of Lives and Property
The penchant for violence adopted by our political leaders as a weapon for power-shift from any of the major political zones to the other must be condemned and nipped in the bud. Fathers and elders of this nation must rise up to condemn this ugly situation and advise our politicians that zoning, especially the presidency is the best if not the only panacea for a happy and enduring co-existence in Nigeria and that rotational Presidency carries with it a vital watchword, “PATIENCE”. Where are the Shagaris of this nation, a man who understood the zoning philosophy so well and was the first President in Nigeria to apply zoning perfectly in his administration 1979 – 1983? Why keep thou quiet on this zoning issue that is tearing our nation apart and making Nigerian leaders look stupid in the eyes of the world. Where are the EKWEMES? Why must it be “me or us now or NEVER” and throwing caution to the wind.
It must be realized that no individual or any ethnic group has monopoly to violence. Having been united by Providence under a common identity called Nigeria, it is expedient that we live in love and in peace. PATIENCE is the watchword. How many times shall citizens be running back to their states of origin from their places to abode?–at every federal election? How many times shall we be experiencing the wanton destruction of thousands of lives and property as a consequence of loss in election? Is it at every federal election? How many times shall the world fret over presidential elections in Nigeria? How many electoral peace pacts shall we keep signing at every presidential election in Nigeria?
Only the rotational zoning of the presidency has the answer. When it rotates to any geo-political zone, the opposing major political zone must patiently wait for that zone to complete its two terms tenure of eight (cool years being four (4) years each tenure before expecting a power-shift. Visit www.nairaland.com for the article titled, “The True Spirit and Application of the Zoning Philosophy”.
There is enough in Nigeria
Nigeria is blessed with stupendous natural resources wealth and uncommon human resources. Our challenge is corruption and how to harness and manage these God-given vital resources. We must appreciate the fact that there is no “chosen messiah” anywhere in Nigeria, who alone and or only, can harness and manage these resources to fix the problems of Nigeria. But with the rotational zoning system, every geo-political zone, will bring out the best in her to contribute his quota of knowledge (expertise) and experience and with time, Nigeria will attain the height that other advanced nations have reached and even exceed. For example, the “Electronic-wallet for farmers” developed under the President Goodluck Jonathan administration in Nigeria is said to be the first of its kind in the world and has saved Nigeria billions of Naira fraud that was rampant in the distribution of fertilizers and seedlings to farmers in every planting season in the agricultural sector. Other countries now copy Nigeria. The African Union has said that African countries should adopt the e-wallet system. The World Bank also has agreed to extend e-wallet system to other African countries.

Patience is the vital WATCH-WORD, for Rotational Presidency.
Tempest Knows No Identity
They who sow the wind, more often than not, always reap the tempest which often clears everything on its course-way without regard for the identities of persons and objects. The PDP had bastardized the zoning system in 2011 when they brought a baby and bathed the baby in a tub against expectations but instead of carrying the baby out of the tub to towel and clothe the baby, they left the baby in the cold bath water in the tub but the baby survived and even excelled. Then came 2014 when the campaigns for the soul of NIGERIA in 2015 began. Believing that the PDP needed an enlightenment on the working of the zoning system, I came up with my article titled, “The True Spirit and Application of the zoning philosophy”(visit www.nairaland.com) in which I postulated a holistic way of bringing back on course the zoning system which was bastardized in 2011 and posted it online at www.nairaland.com. Instead of studying the postulation clinically and asking questions if need be, and adopting it, the Northern PDP governors and their Northern National and State leaders of the PDP, decided to plot a palace coup as the shortest and quickest way of hijacking the Presidency to the North and in the process threw the baby and the bath water in the tub away by teleguiding the casting of their votes for the APC in the Presidential election of March 28, 2015.
After they had made sure that the region voted APC except Plateau and Taraba in the Presidential election of March 28, the Northern PDP governors and their legislators and leaders, were still very confident, basking in a false euphoria that the party would bounce back in subsequent elections meaning that the Northern PDP governors and their State Assembly members would bounce back as PDP elected governors and PDP State Assembly legislators, forgetting that they had sown a consuming wind.
The tempest did come at last on April 11, 2015 and without mercy, swept all the Northern PDP governors and the PDP State Assembly members away from their exalted thrones and abodes except Gombe and Taraba PDP governors who were returned as PDP governors elected. Even Plateau state that voted for PDP in the Presidential election of March 28, lost their PDP governor to the APC. The tsunami eventually swept them all away along with the incumbent President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan whom they betrayed thereby leaving the PDP political party in shreds and in a state of deadly coma and who shall resuscitate it?
