One Dies In Nurtw-traders Deadly Clash In Ekiti by james669: 10:37am On May 21, 2015 |
Commercial and social activities were yesterday paralyzed in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital when Members of National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, and some traders said to be of northern extraction, clashed in a free for all fight. According to unconfirmed report, one unnamed person died during the clash. It was gathered that trouble broke out when when the wife of one of the leaders of the NURTW was allegedly molested by unknown persons. An attempt by the enraged husband of the victim and his followers to find out who actually harassed his wife led to a fight, leaving at least five vehicles belonging to the drivers vandalized while 15 houses and offices rented by the traders were also vandalized. The new Police Commissioner in the state, Mr. Etop James expressed regret over the incident and urged people to always inform him about any imminent break down of law and order Scene of the Fracas PS: This article is a summarized version of the original news Source: http://thesummary.com.ng/index.php/national-news/item/961-one-dies-in-nurtw-traders-clash-in-ekiti |
