Super Eagles manager Stephen Keshi has
inferred that Chelsea's John Obi Mikel is
'playing hard to get' ahead of the crucial
African Nations Cup qualifier against Chad in
Kaduna.
The Nigeria manager revealed that he
attempted to contact the Super Eagles
midfielder via telephone on several
occasions but the calls made to London
were unanswered and his text messages
received no reply.
Mikel underwent minor surgery in February
to correct a knee problem and has featured
in four matches in the Premier League since
he made his comeback.
''When I heard that Mikel was injured I tried
severally to get him on phone to ask after
his health but surprisingly he did not pick the
calls,'' said Keshi to the online edition of
NationSport.
''I sent text messages too but up till now
that I speak with you he hasn’t called back
or sent me text.
“This is unlike him anyway and it doesn’t
mean that I won’t try to call him again.''
Stephen Keshi is expected to announce the
foreign-based professionals, invited for the
Afcon qualifier against Chad, on Friday.
