In a bid to end the ongoing crisis between the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, and 19 lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress in state, both parties held a closed-door meeting on Monday in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The meeting, which was held at Sunview Hotel, Alagbaka, was attended by the governor and five of the APC lawmakers and lasted for over five hours.

None of the parties spoke on the deliberations of the meeting to journalists.

The APC lawmakers, who attended the meeting, were the embattled Assembly Speaker, Dr. Adewale Omirin; his Deputy, Mr. Tunji Orisalade; Mr. Bunmi Orilowo, Mr. Churchill Adedipe and Mr. Gbenga Odebunmi.

Also present at the meeting included the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Dipo Anisulowo; the Ekiti State Attorney-General, Mr. Kola Oluwawole; the lawmaker-elect, Mr Owoseni Ajayi; and the State Commissioner of Police, Mr John James.

After the meeting, Fayoye said, “I don’t want to answer any question, but we are only going to make one statement and the statement is: Today, we have met in the overall interest of our state, believing that we will be able to find a solution to the problem.”

Asked about the outcome of the meeting, Omirin said, “What the Governor said was actually what we have done.”

Shortly after the meeting, Fayose left while the five lawmakers continued with the meeting.

The last reconciliatory meeting convened by eminent lawyer, Chief Afe Babalola, and scheduled to hold in Ado Ekiti, was boycotted by the APC lawmakers on the ground of insecurity.
