come out plain and state you are a police. serves the cop right. (the soul that killeth shall be killed)

lol Police ko Soldier ni

I'm not a police officer, but we Nigerians have same attitude. So this Idea of Police brutality is a general thing but since they are more interactive with the civillian populace than other uniformed officers that is why their case becomes more of a daily routine.

Even you on uniform tomorrow will do worst!!!!!

LATSMA in Lagos are not armed and we all know how terrible they are, In onitsha we used to have ASTA a.k.a Ndi mpiawa azu!! imagine a LATSMA or an ASTA wielding an AK47 the aftermath is best imagined than described !!!!!!!!!!!!

The rot is basically a systematic thing caused over the years by our leaders that have failed to improve on our security system, same rot is gradually creeping into our militarily and no one is saying anything until it completely crumbles. Today uniformed military personnel can be seen patrolling Nigerian streets which hitherto ought to be a crime. That can only happen when a state is under emergency but today we see them escorting goods and services even politicians today move around with military personnel then tomorrow when they commit jungle justice you start crying foul but kept quite when the system is been abused and our forces compromised!!!

We are just Hypocrites!!!!!

BUTCHCASSIDY:

I pray U dont end up a victim of police brutality.
Last year, in kaduna a policeman in mufti shot and killed a graduate,
reason: the policeman was arguing with his girlfriend the boy who
happened to know the girlfriend and was trying to make peace and in a fit of rage he shot the guy point blank

It seems you don't understand my argument, anybody with a gun at that point in time will do same in the state of mind most Nigerians are today. Even from comments on Nairaland you will know the state of our hearts!!!! That's why am saying this our hypocritical attitude of calling it a police brutality is becoming worrisome. Why will a Police man on mufti be with a gun in the first palce? if not for the rot that have bedeviled our system.

hOw many of us have or will clamour(ed) for a re-positioning and reorientation of our police force or you think they have some special DNA in them other than that which we all posses? and then you hand an AK47 to them without proper orientation. Before now Police don't carry guns while moving around the streets they make use of Batons that is why the Hausa word for Police is ('dan sanda) meaning "the stick wielder". But today even hardened repented ex-criminals hide under the guise of VIGILANTE to carry guns and you believe he has the capacity to follow the rules of engagement when it comes to community policing?

Before we jump the gun let us advocate for a better options to our security outfits in totality and not this profiling of our Police which we all contributed to its rot!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not in support of jungle justice for whatever guise however, People are always quick to blame the police for whatever actions or in-actions they take.

A policeman cannot just kill an innocent man for no reason. I've seen a situations whereby some persons(civilian) insult police on uniform and even go physical on them not minding the fact that the police officer is armed. BUt the same person won't try in on an 'area boy' that is not even armed!!!!!!!!!

Anyone with a gun found in the same predicament as the police might do same.

How many of us ranting here can control their temper when it is been pricked?

RIP to the dead

carefull what you wish for, i can't believe you are in support of the police man, under no circumstances should a armed POLICE man kill an UNARMED civilian regardless of what ever the civilian does, police can restrain with force but not kill. angry they are supposed to get training on how to control their temper, any one who has a temper is not fit to be in the police force

I am not in support of Police brutality what am against is the rate at which we Nigerians are quick to blame the police when they commit atrocities and keep mute when the system breeds an unhealthy environment for objective policing.

The bolded in your comment sums up my stance, but when we allow mediocrity subsume meritocracy then we should not expect anything better.

If all the policemen who kill innocent people for no reason is handled the same way, such killings will reduce drastically

This is what happened today in Gombe state after a police officer allegedly killed a young man over an unknown squabble. Angry youths who witnessed what happened -immediately took the law into their hands by descending on the policeman, lynching him to death in the process. The information was made known by a twitter user who witnessed the mob action.

Mob justice is sadly inadequate because it lacks the careful examination and deliberation required to discover the truth and respond with appropriate action.Mobs are driven with strong emotions and reasons is abandoned.Mob 'justice' is another face of crime: it is lawless, cruel, violent, and arbitrary.

Mob 'justice' is not justice at all but a mass crime.
