if you want wordpress.org to host your wordpress blog but want a "custom domain" like ".com" , ".net" ...etc.

you will need to buy the domain name and remove the .wordpress .

Same case applies to the for custom domain.

but if you want to host it yourself, you will then need to buy both the hosting and domain name before you start building the blog . you will then install the wordpress cms, install a theme you want to use, customise it and do other things.

Harry, if I am going to add my two cent; I know you are just starting but if you can, get your domain and personal hosting. You would be happy you did in the future. Oh by the way, there are several hosts offering it for a chicken change. Hope this also helps you.

The only thing u paid for here is the domain name which is not up to 2k. Is this what u intend building for 12k?

My web designer did a great job with www.papertalk.ng . Most people don't even know it's Wordpress.

The only headache I currently have is with my plug-ins, while my website updates automatically post to my Twitter, I have not found plugins that could help with my FacebooK.

lf I visit your site and get an eternal loading page or a oops page on Opera mini, I ain't coming again.

Even on my blog when I installed a plug-in and test with opera mini (Nigerians No. 1) and it is not responsive enough or delaying loading of page, I would take it off.

No matter how sleek your site looks on desktop, if it can't load well on basic mobile browser, you still need work to do
