The Power of Death! (1st part)

[This is spurred from series of death witnessed over time, knowing its discussion stirs panic and fear in the heart of many, and regardless, its reality is something we cannot but accept -- the hard way.]

Death, the god of blood who daily accepts the sacrifice of life, is a sting every man must bear regardless of hair or skin colour, a bitter tonic everyone must drink, a pill every human must swallow mindless of health.

At a point, a juncture of our life, we've had people, persons dear to us, close, casual, and oblivious of our existence pierced by the daggers of death, the thought of which makes our heart groan, our beliefs shaken, and our minds daunted. Oh then, we wished we knew beforehand, maybe we would have done something, anything to make them stay. Natural or not, death is inevitable; no man can hide, for when the many agents of death knocks, as much as the victim fights, (a losing one at that) trying to hold to that last piece of breath, a battle won before it started could not but take them captive.

[As fate will have it, unfortunate some have never been to see a man breath his last, except in the movies. The virtual, make-believe death is nothing compared to the real thing, but then, friends and enemies have gone down the pit, and after a while, they gradually fade from memory, depending on the impact they made on us.]

At the reality of death, we find it hard to believe we won't see them again, that we would no longer share moments, their laugh we'd no longer hear, their warmth we'd no longer feel, and their voices, no longer audible. Those times we shared lingers; the pleasant and bad times recur and hard it is to accept the sudden fact that that cold-blooded creature, lying lifeless in that piece of furniture is never gonna be with us again. How much we wished they travelled, so the thought of having them again lightens our heart. How callous the cold hands of death are!

Now think about it, when someone dies, tears drop uncontrollably, wishes go up -- prayers that they return to us, and then suddenly they appear right before us, the immediate instinct is to take to our heels. As much as we want them back, the fact that no longer belong among us remains etched into us -- to another realm they now belong.

To be continued.

The power of death! (2nd part)

Death, the thirsty god, active every minute, that a lively being seen this moment is gone the next. With the life and soul sucked out, the blood freezes at the instant, the heart follows suit, and the brain finally gives up its last piece of sanity. The body lays still, turns a cadaver for anatomists, a food for worms, a vulture's friend. Death becomes a sore priding in permanent scars, a necessary evil which turns the obscure of all men to a nighttime celebrity, for the name never called now falls from every tongue -- each encounter recalled and conversations brought to life.

[The god respects none, regards nobody and treats every man as equal and despite incessant curses remains undaunted -- accepting no plea and taking no cash]

All over the world, every minute, people are mourning over death, yet no amount of tears stops this god of wrath. Aggression and revenge have been incited, for someone has to pay for the loss and held responsible for shattered lives, dashed hopes, and failed ambitions. The brunt of these falls sometimes on other fellows and death, the ever hungry one swallows them up.

[Death, the mastermind of all deaths started right from the man first murdered, Abel, the biblical character killed by his own brother and countless murders, assassinations, killings have followed which has helped to quench death's burning thirst]

This subject seems endless, and we have all been advised to live our lives like its our last moment on earth and live optimally, for the little we do, when done well will be be our report when we are gone. No longer shall we shy away from the subject anymore, but rather, the best we can do, while we yet breath, we should. As bad as this world seems, the good times still exist, and let's enjoy it to the fullest and when death finally knocks, and in the cold hands of death clutched, we will be satisfied that a legacy remains -- to be remembered in the coming years.

[N.B. Until the next time I write on this subject, I know not how many more deaths by then will be recorded, but then if I'm among (the list is endless) and I am not oppourtuned to hold this pen again, I do hope then, that you reading this piece will be motivated and spurred into making this world a better place; one which will no longer fear death, but accept it as a transition to be with the one who created men and death to kill.]

I love this thread.

I see death differently from what everyone sees it as.
I see death as alone, sad, destitute. Cursed to an unending thirst for life.
In need of love yet unable to feel it.

I see the beauty in death. The peace it brings, the calm, the quiet.
Death saves us from the life's bondage. It's the winning card in life's bitter game.

Death is indeed nature's best gift to humanity

Death is nothing but that moment when mankind is in total peace with everything around him even death itself.

The dead are better off than the living.

Hem, nooo. I'm just not afraid of death. I decided to write on it the week I lost the most people I knew. Its a freedom from misery and life's evil.

Severussnape, Neither!

Misssclassy, that's why I tagged you in. You've got understanding. The best thing is to make a difference before death comes knocking.

Necrophiliacs are not obsessed with death as a concept, but rather, with dead people.

A necrophiliac sees being dead as an art of great sexual importance. He/she relishes in the thought of being close to a dead person, touching their skin, kissing them, having sex with them.

Epelumi is concerned about how we view death, our opinion on the concept of death, not with dead people.
