The Kaduna State Government (KDSG)has
announced that it will discontinue the wasteful
practise of previous administrations which
employed hundreds of special assistants, most of
whom had no job
descriptions or targets.
This was disclosed in a statement by
Samuel Aruwan, the Special Assistant,
Media and Publicity to the governor,
Malam Nasir El Rufai. Aruwan explained that the
new government is determined to reduce the cost
of running government. The statement further
said that: “As part of his commitment to run a
slimmer and more responsive government, cut
costs and drive efficiency, Malam Nasir El Rufai
has disclosed that he and the deputy governor,
Mr. Barnabas Bala
Bantex, will together be appointing only 12
Special Assistants. Each of the appointees will
have specific mandates,
assignments and targets to achieve on
behalf of the people of the state.
“The KDSG intends to restore the prestige of the
position of Special
Assistant as an important role in government.
Persons recruited for such
functions must possess the requisite
competencies to add value to the work
of government.
“In furtherance of this goal of running a
lean, efficient government, the governor has
announced the appointment of four Special
Assistants.
They are:
• Auwalu Yaro Maikyau, Youth Matters
• Peter Ayim, Vocational Training and
Skills Acquisition
• Hafiz Bayero, Job Creation
• Abduljalal Falal, Strategy
This brings to five the Special Assistants so far
appointed. More Special Assistants will be
announced in due course.
