An extraordinary meeting of Heads and Government of the Lake Chad Basin Commission and Benin has approved that Nigeria retains the position of the force commander in the war against Boko Haram until the end of the mission. It also approved that the slot of the deputy force commander and chief of staff be rotated between Cameroun and Chad every twelve months.Their decision followed an earlier rejection of a rotational six-month tenureof the Multi-National Joint Task Force’s Commander, by Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari.Mr. Buhari suggested instead that Nigeria heads the force for the period of the war against the insurgents since it was providing the bulk of troops.Mr. Buhari had earlier argued that such a process will undermine the military’s capacity to sustain the push against the insurgents “who also have the uncanny ability to adapt and rejig their operationalstrategies”.“This command will be to the effectiveness of military strategy, since Nigeria will be providing the bulk of the troops and the main theatre of the war is on Nigerian soil,” he said.A Nigerian, Tukur Buratai, a major general, had only last week been appointed the force commander of the Multi-National Joint Task Force,The summit which held at the Presidential Conference Lodge of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja was attended by, Mahamadou Issoufou, President of Niger Republic; Idriss Deby, President of Chad; and Boni Yayi, President of Benin Republic. The Cameroonian President, Paul Biya, was represented by Mebe Ngo’o Edgard Alain, minister delegate at the presidency in charge of DefenceDeliberations at the summit focused on The Security Situation in the Lake Chad Basin, the Immediate Operationalization of the Multinational Joint Task Force andthe Adoption of Emergency DevelopmentPlan. They were preceded by a preparatory meeting of the Ministers of Defence, the Chiefs of Defence Staff and Heads of Security and Intelligence Services of the LCBC member States and Benin. The heads of state and government of the LCBC and Benin Republic acknowledged with satisfaction the success recorded on military operations jointly conducted in the field by the coalition of the troops from Cameroun, Niger, Nigeria and Chad which have significantly broken down the military capability of Boko Haram terrorist group. However, they agreed on the need to keep up the drive marked by solidarity in action by taking decisive measures in order to totally curb Boko Haram insurgency.According to a communique released at the end of the one day summit, the Headsof State agreed on the need to support military operations with an emergency development plan in favour of vulnerablepopulations in the region in order to fightagainst the root causes of insecurity relating to poverty. At the end of their deliberations, the Heads of State also approved the Concept of Operations Strategic and Operational and related documents of the MNJTF for the fight against Boko Haram terrorist group.Approval was also given for the immediate deployment of the MNJTF HQ at N’Djamena (Chad) by implementing its human, logistic and financial requirements as well as the deployment of the national contingents to the MNJTF under the operational command of the MNJTF commander assisted by his joint headquarters by July 30, 2015.The leaders also approved $30million forthe installation and equipping of the MNJTF HQ.MNJTF will require $30 million in the nextone year to reduce terrorism in Nigeria’s north-east and neighbouring countries to its barest minimum, the executive secretary of the Lake Chad Basin Commission, Sanusi Abdullahi, had said on Wednesday, at the end of a two-day meeting of the Ministers of Defence and top military officials of the LCBC, in Abuja. The leaders approved the establishment of the executive secretariat as the headquarters of the mission and the executive secretary of the LCBC to be the head of mission. It requested the African Union’s support to the MNJTF in its operations, logistics and general mission support; by mobilizing financial support. The heads of state also resolved to seek the support of strategic partners, notablyEuropean Union, France, United Kingdomand United States of America in favour of the MNJTF.It also requested the president of the UN Security Council to make a declarative statement in support of MNJTF Operations against the Boko Haram terrorist group. The Emergency Plan for Development in the Lake Chad Basin, was also adopted at the summit.

Yes! buhari is the giant of africa, Nigeria is the giant of africa. But the guy tall sha.

All through the presidential campaign i ws jst watching buhari and jonathan closely. You all know that since Nigeria was created even before independence .since 1914 making it 101 years Nigeria have never suffered the kind of international insult she suffered under jonathan, we kept hearing Chad army invades Nigeria, cameroon army bombs nigeria to fight boko haram, Niger army chase nigerian refugees, Nigerian soldiers wear woman wrapper to avoid bokoharam. Imagine the kind of shame and fear jonathan brought upon us, our national security was zero, we dont know if one da we will hear that chad or niger or cameroon or bokoharam invade aso rock( the place were we all look up to for guidiance), this whoel thing made me realise that we were been ruled by a clueless, corrupt and unpatriotic element, bcus i know patriotism when i see it, i saw it in siriusblack, i saw it in henry120,i saw it in bidexi and i know that these are kids that would rather die than let an inch of their country fall to another man. Vexed by the current situation and hungry for a change, i decided to go through buhari's profile, what i saw brought tears to my eyes. A man so dedicated to his country he had to keep contesting to lead it despite his age, he was the man that we all called a dullard, but he was also the man that back in his militaru days he risked his life and that of his men to chase out invading chadian soldiers out of Nigeria(few of you know about ds) i saw one of his campaign video and i watched it and in the end with his last words the tears gave way, he said " let me show you that you can be proud of your country" that was all i needed to hear. That was all the campaign he needed to get my vote.

Congratulations, Enjoy your change!

Your President, said he spoke with the President of West-Germany. This is the sort of change you voted for, thank you for taking Nigeria 30 years backwards.

and joe biden called africa a country. I made that decision while you were still bearing your pro-jonathan signature. Nigeria is in billion of dollars worth of debt with no tangible project on ground to show for it, another billion was borrowed for security and till today all we have are old rotten tanks and cold war era systems, you love your country but you do not think she deserve the best? You think anything thrown at it by the government and her thieving allies becomes the best, no wonder you suddenly began to label the textron scorpion as a very effective air platform immediately you noticed we may be going for it, the jf17 became a perfect master piece once nigerian "stingy and corrupt leaders" showed interest in it. You praised every effort under the jonathan Government and yet it allowed so much shame and ridicule on the Nigerian Military which you Love and cherish, under his government the ,military became a political institution with its senior officers moving around with hanging pot bellies and "grand ma's" walking aid/sticks setting a very bad example for young officers and other prospectives, we complain about young men joining the army to earn a living but the high ranking officers of the army have shown it to this young men by means of their flamboyant unprofessional lifestyle that joining the army is the surest way to be rich and in control in nigeria, we see their wives sending officers on uniform to go shopping for them with government vehicles, we see them ordering their men to beat up citizens, the chibok issue is another case, why will any school be left without military presence in that region when the elites are packing up to 3-5 hiluxes and prado's filled with military "VIP" escort?, a community of 300,000 people in nigeria may not have one single police vehicle on patrol in it for one month but when you go to the house of the politically rich you find 4-5 hiluxes protecting them and their relatives.
Sir, i do like to take a chance at change than to remain under a self induced deception that it is all ok. It was not ok.
