Manchester United are seemingly looking to
waste little time in their pursuit of Tottenham's
goalscoring prodigy, Harry Kane, and are now
reportedly preparing an attractive £40m offer
for the home-grown 21-year-old.
A story from the Daily Mirror, published on
Friday afternoon, has significantly built on
earlier reports from multiple trusted sources
that had already declared the Old Trafford club
are indeed interested in signing the 2014/15
Premier League's top scoring English player.
It is said Kane has now overtaken Gareth Bale
as United's number one summer target as the
club hierarchy desperately seek to make a huge
statement in the transfer market ahead of the
new season.
Rumours earlier this month had suggested that
United were considering offering an attractive
part-exchange package for Kane, who scored
an incredible 31 goals in all competitions in his
senior breakout season.
The 20-time English champions were allegedly
willing to include Nani, Javier Hernandez and
Adnan Januzaj in a deal worth around £50m
overall. However, it now seems that United feel
a straight cash offer is a better way to formally
open the bidding.
Any formal talks that ensue will pit two of
football's sharpest business minds against each
other. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is a ruthless
negotiator and has made sure to command
huge prices when selling players over the
years, while United executive vice-chairman Ed
Woodward is the man responsible for
transforming the club into the commercial
juggernaut it is today.
Manager Louis van Gaal is believed to be the
man driving the interest from Old Trafford. The
United boss is in the market for a new striker
after turning down Radamel Falcao, while Robin
van Persie's future is also in doubt.
The veteran Dutchman has a history of
developing young talent and taking it to the
next level and his keenness on Kane is almost
reminiscent of his role in the rapid progression
of a teenage Patrick Kluivert at Ajax in the mid
1990s.

A 21-year-old attracting a £40million is what a club can HARDLY resist. Remember Spur's Chairman Daniel Levy said every player has a price. It is a tough transfer but I see some magic at the end.
