Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir, who is wanted for war crimes, has left South Africa, pre-empting a court ruling over an international warrant for his arrest.

The Pretoria High Court was due to decide whether he should be handed over to the International Criminal Court which charged him with the crimes.

Mr Bashir was in Johannesburg for an African Union (AU) summit.

A news conference will be held in Khartoum upon his arrival.

On Sunday, a judge barred him from leaving until the arrest application had been considered.

A welcome development. It would have been an embarrassment to Africa and a shame to SA if the man was held in detention.

It just doesn't make sense to detain him while attending AU summit in the first place. Better then allow am run through back door

Knew Jacob Zuma would never allow that arrest happen in his country, he doesn't roll that way...

But Omar Bashir God willing will get served, one way or the other.. he has too much blood on his hands...

I wasn't expecting anything less,
The day America extradites George Bush to Malaysia to answer the crimes against humanity charges brought against him there by some survivors of the Iraqi genocide , is the day AL Bashir will be taken to the Icc,
If not, no African leader whether past or present should ever be Extradited to face charges at the ICC

ICC should go to Sudan and arrest him and stop creating diplomatic frictions among countries that are just minding their own businesses.

I know nothing will come out of the hype though i feel one day he will have his day in court.

But was the ICC made solely for non white? When will bush, blair, netanyahu, and countless western leaders answer for their misdeeds?
