Falana Warns President Buhari

Femi Falana, the famous human rights activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has warned President Muhammadu Buhari over his relationship with the G7 countries.

He named this affiliation a ‘romance’ and called on the president to be cautious.

Falana spoke in Lagos on June 14 as one of the keynote speakers at the 2nd annual national conference of The Companion, an association of Muslim men in business and the professions.

Falana defined the G7 as “a gang of seven designed to invade economies and destroy the people.

”He asked Buhari not to give in to the G7’s ideas; rather, he should come back to the people who reposed their confidence in him to lead them.

The lawyer continued that the president should avoid using money from any world agency to run his government “but should block the leakages and recover stolen money back to the government purse.”

Falana underlined the need for Buhari to ask questions about the money recovered from the late General Sani Abacha, which he described as “the most successful loot recovery from leaders who have stolen from public funds around the world.

”He added that $3.2 billion out of the $5billion supposedly stolen by Abacha had been recovered so far “but unfortunately, the money is being re-looted.”

Just observing!

Buhari is a very experienced leader who understands how far he can go with his relationship with the western leaders. We need the support of the west for now in getting the required weapons to fight Boko Haram insurgency. Am sure he knows what to do when the handshake start getting above the elbow. For now, we should support the president and stop criticising every of his move.

I totally agree with Mr Falana on this. When the West gives you something with the right hand, they reclaim it with the left hand, like the proverbial devil. We should look inwards to solve our own problems. But really, which account has the returned Abacha loot gone to?

I share the same view with Falana. Those people hardly do favour without any string attached. I hope PMB will have the courage to cut them off when they start crossing their boundaries.
