Special assistant to former Rivers State Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Barrister Achinike Williams-Wobodo, has declared that the immediate past administration left more than N7billion in the state government coffers.

In a statement posted on the wall of a social media platform, Facebook, yesterday, Williams-Wobodo disclosed that the sum of N1.4billion and another N800million were lodged in the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) account, and Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) account, respectively in Zenith Bank.

He further disclosed that the sum of N1.7billion was lodged in another IGR account in Skye Bank; the sum of N1.5billion lodged in the State Statutory Savings Account, and N700million in Access Bank, N350million in Guaranty Trust Bank and another N480million lodged in First Bank.

The former governor’s aide said, “The talk of no money was left in the Rivers State Government Accounts is purely a case of malicious and criminal mischief made to deceive the unsuspecting public and to malign the person of Rt. Hon. Amaechi with the intent to misappropriate the remaining funds in those accounts.

“A reliable source who informed me on condition of anonymity insists that as at the close of Banking Operations on Thursday, 28th of May 2015, there were these funds in the following accounts: N1.4 billion + in the IGR Account, Zenith Bank; N800 million + in the FAAC Account, Zenith Bank; N1.7 billion + in the IGR Account, Skye Bank; N700 million + in Access Bank; N350 million + in GTB; N480 million + in First Bank and N1.5 billion + in State Statutory Savings Account.

“The former Rivers State governor, Rt. Hon. Amaechi left in the Rivers State Government Accounts a cumulative amount in excess of N7 billion.”

Williams-Wobodo challenged Governor Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike to prove him wrong by making public the authentic bank statement of the accounts as at May 28, 2015, and urged the people of the state to demand for the funds as they exist.
