Without speaking much gramma or typing. much stories;

According to DEPUTY Speaker of House of Representatives, Hon. Lasun Yussuf , 459 members of the house are to gulp N150 billion. I quote him below:

The speculation that the National Assembly takes a good chunk of the national budget, was unfounded, noting that out of the previous budgetary allocation of N150 billion, only N120 billion was budgeted in the 2015 appropriation.

“And people have forgotten too that there are 469 members of the National Assembly with each of the member with five aides that would be paid from the N150 billion

It amazes me that some "mathematicians", "economists" and "political analysts " particularly on the side of the opposition have been writing multiple articles condemning the proposed N5000 stipends for the unemployed and poor citizens.

It is estimated that 20 million citizens are expected to benefit from this program. 20million multiplied by 5000 actually gives N10Billion. N10 Billion in 12 months gives N120 Billion.

Now the interesting part of it, just 489 Nigerian citizens, who are already super rich,and have the same head like you and me are consuming a whooping sum of N150 billion naira, yet my fellow country men are seeing everything wrong in spending N120 Billion on 20 million very poor citizens. Hmmmmmmm, I really dont know what to make of this. I have not seen multiple articles about 489 citizens gulping N150 billion. Do I need to remind anyone of their supposed wardroble allowances? grin

Putting politics, tribalism or ethnicity aside, Nigeria can afford N120 Billion a year on 20 million citizens. There are a lot of Nigerians stranded in hospitals, carrying one hailment of the other, eating once daily because they cant afford N5000. Let us keep politics of bitterness and hate aside and call what is good, good. Sometimes I am forced to say we blacks are our own problems.

Federal unemployed benefits is not new to ths world and is practiced in some countries like the united states,United Kingdom etc.

As a matter of fact families dependent of government stipends are given an average monthly stipend of $US1166 ($1315) during the 2013 US federal government's "emergency unemployment compensation". Google can help you. This is what an employed "Nigerian big boy" earns monthly.

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong in this initiative, the government should only prepare modolities and criterias to which a Nigerian citizen should be qualified and who ever falls into this category should be free to apply.

Mumu do your calculation very well 20 000 000 X N5000 = 100 000 000 000 (N100 billion) which means for 12 months (1 year) = N1.2 trillion in a year!

While the initiative for aiding the poor is a nice idea , I personally think its only begging the problem not solving it. Instead the money should go to investments , therefore creating more employments for the same poor, improving the health of the poor and enlightenement but plain giving the 5k will only solve the feeding part that may only last a week so that initiative will die a quicker than lightening speeded death. As for the reps and senates , one the objective part that's high and should be reduced drastically, the so-called aids each of these politicians have should be reduced to one not 4. Its in-sencitive and plain prepostrous! angry

That's where their problem starts. The current budget of N4.5T is 80% recurrent expenditure, with almost 30% deficit funding. Yet they're seeking to add another N1.2T. Without telling us how this money kalokalo money will be generated.
