As you are reading this, Muslims all over the world have been searching for moon, which signifies that Ramadan fasting will start next day.

A group of Islamic clerics from the South-West, Edo and Delta states has called on Muslims to get prepared for the Ramadan fast, saying moon may be sighted on Wednesday(today).

The call was contained in a communiqué by the group’s Secretary-General, Sheik A. O. Aladesawe, and Publicity Secretary, Sheik Habeebullahi Adam Al-Ilory, on Tuesday.

The statement was issued after a meeting of the group in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

“We urge Muslims to look out for moon on Wednesday (today). If sighted, it means Ramadan will commence on Thursday,” the statement read in part.

The group also congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his inauguration and urged him not to renege on his electioneering promises.

“As a worthy and an exemplary Muslim, we urge our President to live up to his campaign promises as we are ready to support him with prayers. We equally want to appeal to our President to set agenda for a new Nigeria, using all his God-given potential, experience and doggedness to accomplish the task,” it said.

The group also called on Nigerians to rally round the President and the All Progressives Congress in tackling the nation’s challenges.

It expressed concern over the attacks by Boko Haram insurgents which had claimed hundreds of lives in the North-EastNorth-East

We should please stop using "cleric" to define scholars of islam. Call them scholars, sheikh, uztaz, Alim. That's appropriate. It's CNN and FOX trying to redefine scholars of islam. #justsaying
